Re: Saracens are relegated!

the only way the majority of the big names will stay is if they go out on a season long loan - Saracens need to cut costs and the championship has a salary cap too. I cant imagine they wont be looked at quite severely next season too..... As McCall was quoted - this squad will be broken up and its ...

Re: Borthwick

I will put in my 2penneth if I can - Borthwick great appointment as Head Coach and IMHO it is right to move Smurph to DOR but as many people have mentioned, it is the division of responsibilities which will decide the success or failure of this structure. For me, HC decides training methods, style ...

Re: Borthwick

Every DoR is responsible for team selection, ultimately its their job on the line. But Borthwick will be involved in all the decisions.

Re: Saracens are relegated!

And there must be a difference between a team being over the cap for having too many players and for front loading contracts. If Sarries show that they got rid of players to lower their wage bill I can't see them being denied promotion.

Re: Borthwick

Borthwick was signed a while ago. Nothing to do with Saracens As I said, seems like a massive coincidence that it's announced the same week that are survival is guaranteed. I don't doubt that the contract was signed a while ago, just that there may have been a relegation get-out clause in it... Bec...

Re: Borthwick

Strikes me as very odd that it was posted on this forum back in Oct/Nov when folks thought Borthwick would join post 6 N that he had to give six mths notice? In which case how has that now stretched out until October, when Borthwick has clearly been signed up months ago?? Why in the heck does this ...

Re: Saracens are relegated!

Wouldn't surprise me if they drop the 2 year compliance in this case. It's effectively punishing them twice for the same offence.

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

I really don't see why the players are being blamed for this. Why would they accept responsibility? They're not responsible for how much the club pays other players. And look at the rumours surrounding Liam Williams - anywhere between £200k and £450k has been claimed as his salary. I doubt the playe...

Re: Tigers vs Cardiff - 12th January 2020

OK I give up, I still think Simmons should have had time at SH, in fact I would have started him. It's difficult to develop two young players at once though. White will have gained a lot from staying on and turning the game around (not that this was all down to him of course). He's not exactly at t...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2

From what I remember, we were in a pretty strong position regarding wingers when Lewington left.

Can't remember the lock situation when Green left.

Re: Tigers vs Cardiff - 12th January 2020

So I thought the accepted wisdom on here was that we'd pick a strong team, whoop Cardiff, qualify and relax a bit in Pau? What do I know? There's a massive game Vs Bath before the internationals go for the 6N. Give them a week off then spend two weeks in hard preparation. Spend these next two games...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

In these times, I would think it's incredibly unlikely that a sponsor would want to be part of an underhand tactic. Imagine the toxic fallout for their brand if it was ever out in the open. They'd much rather pay the same amount of money in a legitimate manner. Probably true. But what if a club say...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

I do not understand why people on here want to find any excuse to make out Saracense are victims and are not guilty of deliberatly cheating, where they find themselves now, both players and administrators is down to a culture of entitlement to flout the agreed rules with out consequence. I still do...
