Reffing

Interesting- Maxwell-Keys is refereeing today’s game, Quins vs Wasps, after running the line in our game against Quins last week. Is that a new strategy of forewarned is forearmed? I’ve not noticed it before. When I saw him running the line last week, I thought he might’ve been put on the naughty st...

Re: Catering & Bar Feedback Season 2017/18 & 2018/2019

Just wanted to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to the Club for the £1 pie and mash offer on Friday night. It was a lovely thought and looked well-organised. The folk I spoke to really enjoyed their pies - reported lots of meat and flavour. My veggie option was also good. As regards slow, disorganised servic...

Re: Is it a warm up problem?

What I'd like to see is when the team comes off after warming-up, that they run down the CENTRE of the pitch, towards the terrace - we give them a rousing cheer as it is, but I think 'owning' the pitch and running down the centre, rather than coming off at a diagonal, almost half-heartedly, would gi...

Re: Referees

I'd like to see some former-forwards used as scrum refs! I'd love to see them trundling on :) They could ref the opposite side to the actual ref and advise, as poachers-turned-gamekeepers, on the various infringements often missed by refs who've never been in a scrum in their lives. I would've thoug...

Re: Pre Game Player Video

Totally agree that this should go. I love Tigers and will support them whatever, as will most true fans, but find it patronising to fans and demeaning to players to put them and us through this. Does it show how out of touch those running the club have become?

Concussion

Dear All, There's a very good piece on the BBC website today, Thursday, on the effects of concussion, actually on a hockey player, but very relevant to rugby players, as you'll see if you read it. Very sorry that I don't know how to post the link - hopefully one of you kind souls will do so. It's a ...

Re: French rugby

Bonjour Robespierre, Tant pis for Brive, you must feel how we would if Tigers ever faced the drop. What are the chances of them returning next season? Will they bounce back, or struggle do you think? I still can't believe Stade have ever come so close to the bottom - hopefully they'll survive tomorr...

Re: French rugby

Mon cher Robespierre, Thank you for keeping us informed re French rugby. I like to follow former Tigers and other club players if they move to France. Since you registered your concerns re your team Stade Francais, I've been rooting for them to stay up! I have fond memories of sharing the terrace wi...

Re: How Much Is Too Much?

I agree. Have just read an article in The Guardian by Paul Rees on much the same lines [sorry don't know how to include access to it in this post!] I for one, wouldn't be able to look our retired players in the eye if they are clearly suffering from long-term health concerns due to on-field damage b...

Re: George North RFU report

Re some damage after a head injury appearing later: my friend walked into a door jamb one evening - she wasn't knocked out but it was clearly quite a knock. The next morning she was clearly showing signs of disorientation, concussion etc and was admitted to hospital. Rugby and other at-risk sports n...

Re: Rugby - too dangerous to play?

My son was in a car accident recently - hit from behind by another car. He had whiplash-related aches and pains for over a week, and he was protected by his seat and the vehicle. Rugby players are crashing into each other very heavily, with no such protection. No wonder they get injured. I'm particu...

Nottingham!

Has any other major sporting side got the name of another town in prime position on their ground? I was rather disappointed to see that in a plum location on the new stand, facing the main road by which most visitors approach, was 'Nottingham Building Society' written large. I know we need sponsors'...

Re: Rugby League star's concussion dementia

PLEASE can we do something about this before it gets any worse? When the second lot of big boys come on with about 10-20 minutes to go, the intensity of the collisions and the pressure to clatter into each other is a recipe for problems. How do we pressure the RFU to care more for the players? [I no...

Re: Tigers chants & songs

What's all this about needing to learn a new song?? We have a great one, which most of us sing in the main bar after every home game. It's led by the band, Rock Bottom, and says it all: "This one goes out to the team we love; this one goes out to the ten times Champions, TIGERR-ER-ER-ER-ERS!" I'm su...

Re: So the organisers were right to use the Crisp Bowl then?

Must be a Leicester problem then - Milton Keynes had big queues but I think most got served in half-time!
