Re: Watching the Lions
I thought the 14 All Blacks were in control until a few changes occurred in particular AWJ who clearly doesn't justify a place. The English players did well in the main, Mako may get some comments against but IMO he along with a few others had a real go and gave the All Blacks a bit of their own st...

Re: Watching the Lions
Gatland has surprised us all with this one. 1. Despite AWJ clearly not being up to it, he not only stays in the match day squad but starts too!...??? He owes Gats a seriously big game on Saturday....Henderson must be fuming after his MOM display on Tuesday. 2. Sexton for Teo is a massive call and no...

Re: Watching the Lions
I am very surprised that Kruis is being asked to play again after 80 min on Saturday and when he should still be in the 23 for the 2nd test. Surely AWJ should be the bench option - or does this infer that he will be starting the 2nd test as well when Itoje/Lawes appear to be better options (and Laun...

Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread 4
Astounded is the word. Do you really think a professional rugby player would get a cap for his country because his father was on the coaching staff ? Do I think a coach would opt for a player he knows intimately over a player he has watched a handful of times but never coached? Yes. We have seen it...

Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread 4
There's a few on here that never liked Farrell. The "he's only picked for England because of his Dad" brigade, were out in force but have been strangely mute of late. It's comical really. He's clearly THE most important player for country and the Lions but I think there's still an undercu...

Re: Watching the Lions
AWJ rather than Itoje appears the wrong choice. Plus I'd rather see Lawes on the bench and no AWJ in the 23. Back 3 is a surprise - I expected Halfpenny to start and Williams on the bench. Plus I thought Gatland would pick North even though undeserved. Rest of the 23 pretty much picks itself. Good s...

Great day out - apart from the result, usually.ourla wrote:Exeter trip now seems favourite!
Everybody's favourite second team, so would be happy to see them win it - if they get past us in semis

Re: Looks like Sarries?
Agree Exeter are the form team and so I expect them to finish top of the table next week. Wasps form is disappearing just too fast and you would think Sarries will turn them over, but McCall stated after the game today that he would rest players next week because of the Euro final - so wasps may be ...

Re: Lions Squad
Not guaranteed, but as AWJ and Best are (imho) not good enough to make the test 23, then Warburton has to be captain, as I cannot see who else is holding their hands up to lead the side....?Spicer wrote:Does Warburton's captaincy mean he is gareenteed to start?

Re: The end for Hartley
Who was the captain once Hartley went off? I thought it would be one of the vice captains who I think are Farrell, GF and Brown. When we had the pen to get back to 16-14 Owen appeared to check with someone off camera as to whether to go for the corner instead....so not him then, or were we led by co...

Re: Ben Youngs
The kick chase wasn't great, but his kicking was not helping as it was too long at times and a bit aimless as well.
He is our best player based on England form, so had to start the match but it was apparent early on that he was not having a good game...

Re: Is it now time to thank Cockers?
The Premiership is a very competitive league and gone are the days when one team (Tigers) was so dominant as to win the title 4 years on the trot including two doubles with the European Cup. It will not happen again Oh I don't know - I could quite easily see Sarries doing just that, although I'd ra...

Re: SRU sell off
You can't invest in a rugby club as they don't offer a return.
SRU looking to offload £10m of cost per year but still wants a pipeline of players for the national side....cake and eat it springs to mind
I would not expect many takers !

Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread
I'd agree you need a big ball carrier but do they have to play No8? There seem to fewer scrums these days where the No8 can make an impact from the set-piece. In which case there are a number of players in the Tigers squad who can take the ball carrier role. Hear hear. Just because other clubs do s...

Re: Leicester Tigers 2016/17 Squad/Transfers/Contract thread
Fonua has not worked out for us & I am okay with letting him go as we have plenty of back row options.
Having said that, I would be delighted if Tigers have a big name no8 lined up for this season - or next !!
