Re: Relegation 20/21

When Tigers played London Welsh I found myself walking behind Phil Bennet. I just scrape 6foot but my chin could have rested on his head. Even when he was scoring against us, that man was a joy to watch.

Re: Relegation 20/21

If the future of the pro game is at stake, and the Championship is defunct, then the Cheetahs and the other rich man's plaything will end up in a 14 team league tout suite. Don't believe otherwise. Seriously?? Then I'm chucking it in. 60 years of playing and supporting, I've had enough. The game is...

Re: Offside at a kick off

Surely it would be simpler if a forward pass was defined as any pass where the ball arrives forward of the point from which it was delivered or better still not behind the point of delivery. I think that was actually the law when I began :smt017 or am I being dim and missing the sarcasm? It's been ...

Re: Offside at a kick off

Whatever we think about the laws and officiating it is an oasis of sanity compared to what I'm seeing. I'm watching Stormers v Pumas at the moment (19. 30 Fri 23rd) and forward passes, really not straight line-out throws, offsides, scrum infringements all completely ignored. Gross knock-ons are noti...

Re: Offside at a kick off

I realise it's been said before (but what hasn't here?) but the difficulties with the TMO are 1. Trying to force a decision on the referee - "have another look Mike .. I just want you to have another look" and 2. The inordinate amount of time and number of times an incident has to be replayed. Most ...

Re: Now playing at Mattioli Woods Welford Rd

You have to hand it to those at the club for saving this for a time like now. :smt038 I read some of the comments on faceplant, some of those people need to get out a bit more. I'd blame Covid and all this lockdown stuff but they were already that miserable. They need to get their priorities sorted...

Re: Ellis Genge comments on 'Outdated Playing Contracts'

I'm sure, as h's dad says, existing contracts can be varied (time off to visit family abroad or whatever) but a strength of the current system is everyone is on the same basic contract and everyone else knows it. I am sure this makes for a quieter, less stressed dressing room with less room for jeal...

Re: European finals 2020

This thread is wandering way off topic but I would like to point out that Rob Baxter developed a lot of his skills when he was still player/coach at Exeter by coaching at Exeter University. There, he got hands on performance software that championship (and probably some top flight clubs) did not hav...

Re: Rugby And all sports’ fans matter!

To go back to what I believe to be the original intention of this thread, there are clearly areas of industry/production that are of national strategic importance; agriculture and horticulture; the provision of energy and clean water and the removal of foul water; hospital, GP and other medical and ...

Re: Tigers vs Quins - 04 Oct 20 15:00

Sorry to add to the gloom, but let's not forget the other teams will use the off season to improve too. Quins seconds looked useful and will, presumably, be better. Unless they catch the virus that has been weakening Tigers for 6 years with no sign of a cure.
