Re: Tom Youngs Verdict

Nice of Tom to apologise to Ian Tempest and to acknowledge his comments were "heat of the moment". I hope some on social media, who wrote in the heat of the moment about the officiating, will do the same, at least in their own minds! That the business with Lam and the team manager is deeme...

Re: BRISTOL (H) - 5th June 2021

A lot on here clearly don't think Ian Tempest was very good. But he didn't actually do anything wrong. Interesting to read Brian Moore this morning and to hear Dave Flatman just now. Flats gave a perfect summary of why there was never a penaly try possible and why the yellow card was given at the co...

Re: Wasps Vs Tigers

Any thoughts on Mick Cleary's article on the red card in today's Telegraph? Hogwash, too PC or a breath of common sense?

Re: Malouf banned

Code: Select all

If the late tackle was worthy of a red card, do the referee, touch judges and video ref all need retraining after watching lengthy replays and deciding it was only a yellow?
Fair point, but the ref and TMO get about a minute to come to a decision and the citing bloke gets 24 hours.

Re: Height of tackle

Like you, I'm running out of straws to clear. The game gets more like League every year.
Have to say, the League I watch is nothing like Union. They hit them round the head and neck all the time and that is accepted.

Re: Nigel Owens!!

You are very harsh. Yer, it looked as if the pen to Sarries when the ball was probably out was harsh on Racing, but otherwise he reffed the game. To say he needs retraining really is an over reaction in my opinion. Anyway, well done Sarries. If we can beat them next week it will be right up there wi...

Re: Slates on 'Rugby Tonight' tonight

Scott was good. Does anyone else think that the presenters sometimes they go over the top with their laddish image? I am surprised that they are allowed to do some of what they do and I don't think it's necessarily great for the image of rugby. Specifically Austin Healy simulating being sick through...

Re: BOD resents Gatland over Lions snub

Very disappointed to read of BOD's reaction. He doesn't have to agree with W. Gatland's decision to leave him out, but he could accept it graciously. Seems he is putting self ahead of team and can't see the bigger picture - really surprised, I didn't think he was about that.

Re: Has Gatland made a boo boo with Warburton as Captain

Depends what you want from a captain. Should he be the best player? Should he be the most sociable player? Should he be the best after dinner speaker? Should he the best with the media? Should he be the one to make sure none of the squad are lonely and drinking on their own? Should he be guaranteed ...

Re: Wayne Barnes.......good or bad game??

Having watched the game ,whilst I agree to the sentiment of this, it doesn't apply to this game at all. The ref was very even handed and I saw nothing that spoilt the game for either side. A full blooded local derby played with great pace, that was a good advert for the game and for the ref,whistle...

Re: Weight limits in Schools rugby

It is not uncommon in prep school sevens. The rule is there so as not to put young children off the game by being pitted against what might appear to be grown men. Encourages more skill and less brawn. Very common in all junior rugby in New Zealand. The bigger weighted boys are able to play up an ag...

Have to say that in my opinion you are biased against referees. He did give some good decisions didn't he?

Re: Why is Farrell so good and getting all the praise?........

How refreshing to see Owen Farrell getting praised on this site. He used to be condemned roundly and I thought that was just because his club was Saracens which seemed not to be a popular club on here. He and Ben are certainly combining well, but I think the whole England set up would suggest that D...

Re: Flood - what time's the hearing?

Having watched it on video he clearly did not make a deliberate illegal tackle. I am amazed he was cited in the first place! The decision is correct. Well done the rugby authorities - always can be trusted to come up with the right decision.

Re: Brian Moore on the Scrum

on the advantage subject why does a referee never play the advantage in the scrum when a team is stuffed. Several times recently we are marching down the oitch almost unnopposed and the referee blows up and gives us a penalty. Why not just let us carry on until their scrum half leaps into the numbe...
