Re: French rugby 2023/24

Watched highlights of the Castres Montpellier game, which from what I could see Montpellier should have won. No sign of Sam Simmonds from what I could see. Is he injured ? He must have had a quiet game because he was selected at 7 and was substituted in the 66th minute!! They were short highlights ...

Re: French rugby 2023/24

Round 23 results: Toulouse 49 Stade Français 18 (an emphatic bp win for Toulouse takes them to top of the table) Perpignan 28 Clermont 35 (a rare away win for Clermont gives them a chance of qualifying for next season's Champions' Cup) Castres 27 Montpellier 26 Pau 39 Oyonnax 17 Racing 28 Bayonne 37...

Re: French rugby 2023/24

Round 23 of 26 is this weekend: Perpignan v Clermont Castres v Montpellier (as it stands, Montpellier will have to visit the ProD2 runner up in a play-off match to stay in the Top14) Pau v Oyonnax (end of season play-offs seem unlikely for Pau and Oyonnax are as good as relegated) Racing v Bayonne T...

Re: Champions and Challenge Cup Semi-finals - 2024

That was a bit too close for comfort with Quins winning the second half.

Toulouse will need to play high risk off-loading rugby to get past Leinster and by keeping mistakes to an absolute minimum, but sadly I can't see them winning.

Re: Formerly of this parish

Perry Freshwater will continue as Perpignan's scrum coach for at least another year, the job he's had since 2016. Perpignan are currently enjoying a renaissance having been at the wrong end of the Top14 table for the last couple of seasons, and have had to play-off against the runner-up of ProD2 in ...

Cup winning legends

There's a photo on the Tigers' website of a group of Leicester Tigers legends celebrated the 45th anniversary of the famous John Player cup win from the 1978/79 season.

Can anyone name them? Is that Peter Wheeler with one hand on the cup? If so, he's lost an awful lot of weight.

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

How the hell did they lose that? I was only following the score and thought it should’ve been sewn up , then when I next saw it was 19-14 I wasn’t surprised that Bristol nicked it. Supporters in the ground must’ve been really annoyed ( there’s another way of saying it but would’ve been censored!) an...
