Re: Teams up vs Bath

Also why was Ben Youngs not allowed to tap and go when we won a scrum penalty? Happy to have that explained to me. Otherwise another ludicrous decision by an allegedly experienced referee. Ben was at least 10 yards in front of the place where the infringement occurred Thanks for the clarification, ...

Not offside as it was open play, but you are right as he was in front of the ball carrier preventing a tackle therefore blocking/crossing. Had he been behind the ball carrier - play on.

Re: Tigers v Saints AWC Saturday 28th Jan.

Squad strength is less important than squad cohesion at the moment, last week saw a strong side play as individuals so why not mix up the Academy /2nd XV and 1st teamers to get some form of cohesion one way or another. FYI Saints have an ex-Tigers Academy Captain hooking against us tomorrow, another...

Re: Yesterday's game.

how did your opinion (nailed on dead cert) regarding Ben Youngs leaving a season or two ago go? Saints wasn't it, or was it Bath? :smt002 You have the wrong bloke there, I do remember someone on here at the time from West Norfolk who claimed inside knowledge about that. Definitely not a quote from ...

Re: DOR aspirants, then?

Lancaster did a great job of unifying a disheartened and disjointed England side, and got them playing for the right reasons, but he's not a coach to compete with the best as proven. I'd like to see someone like Todd Blackadder who again did a similar re-build at Bath, and has their team playing goo...

Re: Yesterday's game.

Funny how the same incident can be interpreted differently. Exactly right MurphysLaw! Just watched the incident again on the TV replay which shows (63m 08s) Freddy was almost on the touch line when Farrell pushed Freddys head (which was over-hanging the touch) onto the whitewash just to make sure. ...

Re: Yesterday's game.

Phew! glad you got that off your chest Whitecap? Did you see how Farrell/Burns (or anyone) went at each other straight after? me neither! If he struck his head then the citing officer would be on to it, have you heard anything yet? me neither! A little bit of ring craft from Farrell that's all. Be i...

Re: Yesterday's game.

Quite simply Burns was scragged to the touch line and Farrell pushed on Burns head to put him in touch. No malice, no niggle, just rugby! No doubt someone will claim a high tackle on here!

Re: Departure of Cockerill

Right decision and overdue. I hope Cockerill is still a part of the Tigers structure somewhere, enthusiasm and passion will always be a key part of any club and squad. We need a DoR who can convert that passion into the cohesion amongst the players in the way that EJ has done for England. The talent...

Re: Exeter v Tigers - 24th December 2016

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester: "The ball is not placed at the bottom of the post, so it's not a try." And there lies one of the main issues with Cockerill, not interested in any other opinion but his own. The 'fact' was that Foley stated cle...

Re: Good tackle now illegal?

Wrapping arms and driving through (horizontal) would theoretically never be penalised no matter the outcome as there is no lift involved. Driving low to high may result in lifting the player, therefore the risk of a tip tackle is higher.

[quote="strawclearer"North jumped recklessly and should have been penalised under existing rules - shouldn't he?[/quote] Which law? It's not a reckless act to jump to retrieve the ball, even with your studs facing the defender! it can be an offence to kick out whilst in the air as that cou...

Re: Is it now time to thank Cockers?

If it's Mauger who's responsible for the performance, why is it then that it's Cockerill who's mainly barking out the orders during the game, and also giving post match reports to the press? I would suggest Cockerill is stifling the channels of communications between coaches and players, which would...
