Re: Rugby Second class in South Wales?

However you can't get away from the elephant in the room - you almost all get a free pass into the HC regardless. I don't think you'll find many of us thinking that's a good thing. An insipid league with no incentive for doing as well as you can isn't going to raise the intensity. Not many are prep...

Re: Ospreys' team for Sunday

That front row of ours is going to get mullered. Bakkie Botha has got a LOT to answer for :smt013 Back row contest will be superb and if we can win clean possession, there's going to be quite a few nervous Tigers fans at WR. :smt001 We've just got to avoid knocking the ball on all match that's all...

Re: Stephen Jones says what we all think!

Irish rugby is regional not club based at the highest level. So I would hope you are competitive with both Celtic regions and with English/French clubs. Or you're wasting your money on those top players. If England had North, South, East and West regions the HC would be ours every year. I don't rea...

Re: Rugby Second class in South Wales?

To turn this around look at the International attendances in Wales. Footie 16000 Rugby Full House 72000+. Why ? Is it because the regions have not yet grasped the public imagination ?. Is football too polarised between two teams ? Not that bothered. Anyway ...... A couple of reasons: 1) Success - t...

Re: Rugby Second class in South Wales?

Well Osprey fan, welcome to the forum and thank you for your point of view, you will find most people on here rate the Magners league about as poorly as you do. Its just a shame that most fans see this as a direct insult to the teams themselves, which is not true. There are plenty of brilliant team...

Re: Rugby Second class in South Wales?

Probably disagree on most of your points afan to be honest 1) We dont compete for the same market as the football, its a different sport so different supporters. Leicester dont get affected by having a well supported football team. I'm not too sure i'll agree tbh. South Wales has a limited populati...

Re: Stephen Jones says what we all think!

I think they should change the ML such that only the top 6 qualify for the HC, regardless of team nationality. That would spice things up a bit. Hi barson, I've written quite a length post in the "Rugby in South Wales" thread, but I thought i'd have a go at answering your point above here...

Re: Rugby Second class in South Wales?

Hi all, Seems like this fixture is becoming an annual event :smt002 Anyway, to answer a couple of points re: low attendance: 1) Comparisons between Soccer and Rugby in South Wales aren't generally the best idea. The two sports compete for what is essentially the same market. With the soccer, there a...
