Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Regarding captaincy I do recall an A League of Premier Cup.match over at Loughborough when I was very impressed with the captaincy of a young Tommy Reffell, not just decision making but the way he moved around encouraging his players some of whom were senior to him.In experience.

Re: Tigers v Sale (A) - Premiership - Friday 10th May 2024 - KO: 7:45pm

Just a thought it is possible that some of the young guys that impressed against Black Knights are still in education and might be in the middle of exams that would have affected their training and availability for selection, I don't suppose that is applicable to Whitcombe or FTT but could be to Kin...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I am looking forward to announcements of who is being promoted from ourSenior Academy to first team squad and also who will replace them in the Senior Academy squad. Since the creation of our ladies team we hear a lot less about our Academy players and their matches, I do hope our I.T department can...

Re: Law changes coming in to effect 1st July

Why allow a mark from a kick.off, personally I would ban the mark call completely. I can see that we might go back to a kick short of the 22 which will allow the kicking sides forwards to contest the ball. A suggestion might be to enforce offside rules at the kick off, make sure everyone behind them...

Re: New Supporters Forum?

Judging the cap is a fine science, incorporating allowances for England qualified players hoping no-one decides to play for another country and RFU payment for those selected for England, not known at contract decision time. As someone else suggested there needs to be a bit of wriggle toom incase ad...

Re: Tigers v Sale (A) - Premiership - Friday 10th May 2024 - KO: 7:45pm

Kata on the wing is not an experiment, that is the position he p!ays for his country on a regular basis. I feel that the experiment of playing him at 12 has restricted our backs, he is a good player but he is not a distributor and in my opinion that is what is required in that position. Freddie is a...

Re: New Supporters Forum?

To me it was a clear statement that we plan on spending up to the cap but not over it. It was pointed out that some players previously on Academy contracts had enhanced their value and would require substantial increases to retain them. There was no mention made of Marquee players and of course our ...

Now is not the time to experiment, Steward at fullback, Shillcock on the bench. Kelly and Scott in the centre with Kata on wing although Kinder is a viable option, last week he showed there was more to his game than just his run for the try, either player could have an impact off the bench.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

And a few matches previously some were suggesting Whitely had moved ahead of Youngs. I do regret losing Edwards as I regret losing Ben White in my opinion due to the unnecessary signing of Wigglesworth, but we fans can have opinions without having to make decisions, I can imagine the club thinking w...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I think it is quite simple, next year there is a limited squad size, and limited game time available, the players in the squad have to be balanced over all.positions and there is only room for a certain number of specialist scrum halves and hookers, certain positions lead to more versatility than ot...

Re: Black Lions match

An impressive performance from a young team. Wilkinson who I had not seen play before was excellent I kicking for goal.landing touchline conversions, I was also impressed by the speedy scrumhalf Allen and the also speedy right wing Kinder who was not afraid to tackle or go for a high balll. I had no...

Re: Black Lions match

For me our final two games are important to secure Champions Cub for next season, we need to be 7th if Gloucester win the Challenge Trophy. This is an.opportunity for our coach and us the fans to see some of the young talent available to.us. If our young players do.not play in these matches when do ...

Re: Tigers v Sale (A) - Premiership - Friday 10th May 2024 - KO: 7:45pm

Currently we are 8th in the Premiership no chance of the playoffs but we need to secure a Champions Cup place for next season at the moment we are reliant on Gloucester NOT winning the Challenge Trophy, I don't think they will but they are a decent side coming into some sort of form and I would not ...

Re: Craze for alternative club names

The thing with non geographic identity names is that they can easily transfer to Franchises..London Wasps, get rid of the London and Wasps could appear in Wycombe, Coventry or Kent. Sale Sharks no longer Sale RFC although they maintain a connection they p!at a few miles away in Salford but as Sharks...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I was there, the answers to questions were honest. Mr McKellar did indeed imply that Kelly was to be with us next season a d that there would be promotions from Senior Academy to Men's squad and possibly another signing. He spoke about the difficult season and his belief in the system he wants to pl...
