Re: Championship Clubs Promotion

They have tried the play off between bottom Premiership and top Championship before and it does not work. The Premiership team has players used to playing at a higher standard, and they have probably been coasting for a few matches knowing that the only important game is the play off match. The Cham...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

It is entertaining to guess at possible new signings, particularly with regard to perceived weaknesses in our squad, sometimes I think on this board we create our own rumours and these are echoed by The Rugby Paper or Fisler and we believe they have information not realising that we ourselves are th...

Argentina have a lot of matches to play in July, August and September, Montoya will have had little rest from the end of this season before joining us after the start of next, I think our young bookers will get plenty of game time.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

When Borthwick was appointed we knew he was likely to succeed Eddie Jones as England coach so the Directors of that time were aware that there would be some disruption about now..it all came a little earlier than planned and because S.B took with him his senior coaches the disruption went a little d...

Re: Championship Clubs Promotion

For me that answers all the questions as long as the local planning authority accepts the outline proposals. Ground criteria is not just about capacity it is about ground safety, first aid facilities and ease of evacuation in case of emergency. Personally I would also add the ability to stage matche...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Tiglon you are right about Alex Tuilagi leaving the season before I thought he went directly from us to Newcastle but he played somewhere else before Falcons, I forgot that we also had Nicky Goneva at that time. Lewington had pace and was a decent prospect but at the time he was released he was not ...

Re: Championship Clubs Promotion

There was a time when Exeter had very small crowds, they moved out of town to Sandy Park, they challenged for promotion, the crowds were still not great, they were lucky in the play offs when Bristol failed but on being in the Premiership they found new supporters that could not have been accommodat...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

When Alex Lewington left us, AlexTuilagi was still playing as was Geordan Murphy and we had Matt Tait, Scott Hamilton and I think Horatio Agulla possibly.others, opportunities on the wing were limited for a young player. There have been a few young players leave to play regularly at a lower level an...

Re: Black Lions fixture

Neither Bob Dwyer nor Matt O'Connor were exactly reticent in expressing their feelings about Tigers dispensing with their services. Deano was unfairly sacked after his aging and tired team couldn't regain former form following the England World Cup win, he did sign Ramiro Pez though. There were peop...

Re: Leinster mind games begin? - Champions Cup (A) - Saturday 06th April 2024 - KO:8:00pm

I think Marcus Smith is now England's best option at flyhalf and probably Fin Smith is close behind him. For me Steward should be at 15 and Furbank on the bench as his skill set equips him to cover several roles in the way Alex Goode should have been used by previous England coaches.

Re: Black Lions fixture

I don't need to defend Cocker, his record speaks for itself. After O Connor left as backs coach and the following season all our centres were injured for long periods, Paul Burke was sacked as M.OC's replacement having been given no real chance. In my opinion the club should have promoted Anthony Al...

Re: Leinster mind games begin? - Champions Cup (A) - Saturday 06th April 2024 - KO:8:00pm

Shilcock is a flyhalf/fullback, in fact I think Worcester played him more at 10 than at 15. In France it is quite common for 9's and 10's to be interchangeable. There are many instances of wings playing 15 and fly halfs playing 15 but that does not mean that all.players can switch. Austin Healy was ...

Re: Leinster mind games begin? - Champions Cup (A) - Saturday 06th April 2024 - KO:8:00pm

I entirely agree with Rugbygramps, his description of the role of rugby fullback is accurate and Steward is ideally suited to.it. He will.I am sure do a job if selected on the wing but there are many better wingers, Freddie is like Tim Stimpson a great fullback but less great elsewhere in the team. ...
