Re: Black Lions match

For me our final two games are important to secure Champions Cub for next season, we need to be 7th if Gloucester win the Challenge Trophy. This is an.opportunity for our coach and us the fans to see some of the young talent available to.us. If our young players do.not play in these matches when do ...

Re: Tigers v Sale (A) - Premiership - Friday 10th May 2024 - KO: 7:45pm

Currently we are 8th in the Premiership no chance of the playoffs but we need to secure a Champions Cup place for next season at the moment we are reliant on Gloucester NOT winning the Challenge Trophy, I don't think they will but they are a decent side coming into some sort of form and I would not ...

Re: Craze for alternative club names

The thing with non geographic identity names is that they can easily transfer to Franchises..London Wasps, get rid of the London and Wasps could appear in Wycombe, Coventry or Kent. Sale Sharks no longer Sale RFC although they maintain a connection they p!at a few miles away in Salford but as Sharks...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I was there, the answers to questions were honest. Mr McKellar did indeed imply that Kelly was to be with us next season a d that there would be promotions from Senior Academy to Men's squad and possibly another signing. He spoke about the difficult season and his belief in the system he wants to pl...

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

Please will all those that play rugby or have ever played rugby or for that matter any other contact team sport that honestly cannot recall doing anything in a match that on reflection they regret p!ease hold up their hands. A young man kicked a ball when possibly be should have held on to it or pas...

I think anybody that frequents this messageboard will.be aware that Ben Youngs does not escape unfair criticism just because he is one of our own. No both Youngs and Whitely receive over the top criticism because some fans are unfair. We did not lose that game because of one kick, the kick was an op...

As several of our players were with England I assume Aled had a hand in their fitness anyway.

Positives from the game, Kelly at 12, Steward at 15, Martin and Chessu m in the 2nd row. Whitely is getting stuck for that kick but actually it was a decent kick jus short of the 22 we were first to it and played it back but failed to secure it,had we done so we would have had forward momentum. Obvi...

Tigers86 I am encouraged by your comments, for some reason my tv did not record that match, I am still.hoping to pick it up.on a repeat showing. I have seen previous Waratahs matches and have not been excited by what I saw from Perese, he always looked ok but nothing special and did not play for 80 ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

In the amateur days there were instances of players performing well in the Oxford v Cambridge.match being selected for England, that these were not even the strongest University rugby teams was not taken into account or that teams like Tigers would send a seriously weakened squad to play against the...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

White possibly would have stayed and competed with JVP for second choice scrum half slot but the signing of Wigglesworth meant he was looking at being 3rd or 4th choice. The player he is now shows the benefit of regular games and that is what is denied to most of our young players.once they reach th...

Re: 23/24 Injury/Suspension/Absent International List

Miss two games whether Premiership or European match.ir even Premier Cup. A friendly seems to stretch a point but at least it was an already arranged friendly. I remember a few years back when Perpignan following a complaint by Ospreys had their reserve hooker unfairly suspended for about 13 weeks. ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I thought Edwards looked decent when playing for England Under 20's, I thought it a mistake when we signed Powell thereby denying Edwards the chance to play whilst JVP and Youngs were unavailable. Of course we don't know Edwards reaction to that or how he trained. There may be other reasons why the ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

It is a failure of the system that cannot find game time for players beyond the age of eighteen. Obviously young players need games to continue development and equally obviously they have to be ready to move on to create space for the next year group. Why on earth is it beyond the ability of the RFU...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

A player running flat out at a man with the ball is to a certain extent out of control, he is easily sidestepped leaving a large space behind him that the ball carrier can take advantage of. A more measured approach with the ability to change direction can see the ball carrier elect to kick handing ...
