Re: Players asked to take pay cuts!

Accept a wage cut now and a few months down the line you are made redundant with the package based on your then earnings. If you are a rugby player and you accept a pay cut then suffer a career ending injury, illness or death compensation based on earnings at the time is that fair to your family? Al...

Re: Players asked to take pay cuts!

Notajock forgot to include the government in his list of priority payments, PAYE & VAT are high on the list of creditors, and of course in the event of a liquidation settlements can only be made after all assets are disposed of. I have reason to believe it is not easy to sell a sports ground so it c...

Re: Players asked to take pay cuts!

Interesting situation for some, their contract ends at the end of this season, say June in normal times. Signing for a new club with a contract to commence July 1st ready for pre season is seamless but currently I wouldn't think teams are signing new players with a start date when we have no idea wh...

Re: Utter Rubbish - Manus Red Card v Wales

Could I suggest that 17 stone of muscle travelling at speed with his shoulder crashing into an athlete with a proven susceptability to head injury and concussion will inevitably result in the tackled player leaving the pitch for an H.I.A, in this case it was not required therefore there was no conta...

Re: Players asked to take pay cuts!

The salary cap works out at about 7.5 K Premiership teams need 40 + players not even Saracens will be paying all of them 400K a year, most players will be on less than 100 K still a good wage for a young guy but not a lot when trying to provide for a future in the real world, a 25% cut will hit thos...

Re: Players asked to take pay cuts!

Easy for us with no knowledge of a players outgoings (mortgage commitments etc) as they try to purchase a house or secure their future before their income drops rapidly when their playing career ends to suggest that they take a pay cut on the remainder of a short contract. Were they to sustain a car...

Re: LFC Plc Announcement - Off the market!

The CVC cash had changed circumstances and the Board explored what may be possible and if there could be a benefit to the club. It seems they have ascertained that at this moment there is nothing that will be of benefit, it maybe that the changes to the make-up of the Board signify a difference of o...

Re: LFC Plc Announcement - Off the market!

We have been assured on many occasions that we spend to the salary cap plus two marquee players so with the exception of the amount spent on those marquee players where is the evidence that the teams mentioned are better funded. I do not dispute that on recent seasons performance those teams have be...

Re: Exeter Chiefs - 21 March at Sandy Park

A contract of sale or service is just that, if that service or product is not then supplied then the contract is nul and void and any reputable business would return the money, although if an alternative date is offered that happens to be inconvenient for the purchaser that may be different. I would...

Re: May, Kalamafoni and McPhillps extended injuries

If the season is curtailed by order, how many clubs will survive. Wages will still have to be paid for all staff not just players, loans will still have to be paid with lenders possibly needing re-assurance. Most clubs are not making profits despite their full quota of games, without that income and...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 3

Pleased by the signing of Brink, but saddened if it means Kalamafoni leaving, he has been and still is brilliant for us although obviously at the tail end of his career. I don't agree that Boladau is a decent prospect for us, he has helped us out this year but is too old to be considered a prospect.

Re: Exeter Chiefs - 21 March at Sandy Park

If you buy tickets for an event and that event does not take place you are entitled to a return. If the match is postponed then your tickets are transferred to the new date, if you cannot make the new date then you depend on the goodwill of the organisers. If played behind closed doors then I assume...

Re: Sarries vs Leicester - Teams Up

Strawclearer, are you suggesting that Borthwick, Murphy and the players know more about how they will work together than the various posters on this and other messageboards, if so then that is a truly radical thought?
