Re: Super 14 Rugby!!!!!

I hate the ELV's and especially the Free Kick Sanctions version played in the S14. One observation though. Teams like the Bulls with big forwards shouldn't fall for this helter skelter, tap, run three paces and kick stuff. Use the free kicks to bring the game down to a slower pace by taking a scrum ...

Re: Mercury - Jake White leads race for Tigers post!

I'm not so sure this guy is best suited for the style of play that the Tigers have grown into over the years. He will want to revolutionize (move away from dominating with forwards first) and you will have to take a serious dip in results for some time before there might be an improvement.

Re: Heyneke Meyer Resigns! - Announcement from Tigers!

Tough luck for the Tigers :-( . In the long term you would have benefitted tremendously from this guy. He helped the Bulls set up a professional structure through all levels, from primary schools to the top professional level that still is the envy of all other S.A. franchises. I can however sympath...

Re: Meyer set to become Southern Spears DOR

This is a big load of hogwash. First of all the Keo chaps are notorious for posting what can only be described as a lot of bull- and even more so the author of that article. The spears is a wannabe S14 Franchise in the Eastern Cape region which if it get off the ground will consist of about four uni...

Re: ELV's a try fest? (update)

It's even simpler if you don't allow hands! Stay upright and maul or go to ground, present and drive over - or counter-ruck. That's old-skool - and fast ball usually resulted! As posted before, the free-kick ELV does keep the ball in play longer, but play is very fractured and unstructured, and the...

Re: If you could change one law?

E.L.V.'s aside, the one long standing law that has always irritated me is the one where a defender is not allowed to tackle a player taking a quick tap from a penalty (or even with the Fairy Laws a free kick) before he has advanced 10 meters. For me it should be that if you want to take the quick ta...

Keep the faith! I'm sure that, with this dogged refusal to lie down that you showed on Sat, if you can make it to the play-offs you can beat anyone on the day.

Re: D.Hougaard you beautie!!!!!

Butch had a great game and it was one of those where everything (bar the drop goal attempt) worked out for him. Kuddo's to the man for that but I've also witnessed some games from him in the past where everything he tried, and especially those grubber kicks, went wrong and he ended up costing his si...

Re: Seems we have more than one coaching gap at the moment

The Blue Bulls Company Pty (Ltd) and John McFarland are in the process of negotiating his probable return to the Company subject to a few outstanding issues. The CEO of the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd, Barend van Graan, said that the Bulls would dearly like to have McFarland back on board and they...

With the exception of maybe one or two I hate the "Fairy Rules" :smt019 For those who have not seen it yet here's the results of the survey by RFU on the E.L.V.'s. http://www.rfu.com/pdfs/elv/RFU_ELV_Survey_Results.pdf and if you want to participate in the IRB survey try this link http://o...

Re: I have to laugh at how the tune has changed!!!

deema1 I'm actually a Bulls supporter from S.A. but the Tigers has always been my adopted English team from way back as their style of rugby is a lot like that of the Bulls. :smt004 So you guys play terribly boring, predictable rugby, with no ambition and backs as effective as a chocolate teapot as...

Re: I have to laugh at how the tune has changed!!!

deema1 True I have not seen much of Dupey (about 4-5 games only) but the little I have seen has really not impressed me one bit. What was that stupidity playing the oppo scrumhalf and giving away a penalty, whilst the ball is available to be delivered to the backs, about? He just seem to be unable t...

Re: I have to laugh at how the tune has changed!!!

Dupuy has been our best scrum half all season. One bad touch kick in the last minute doesn’t change that. Maybe it's just because I'm used to supporting a team that forever had world class scrumhalves but I'm afraid that with this Dupuy guy Tigers are not going to get anywhere. I cannot even see hi...
