Re: Ben Youngs

Lol - delusional (if you think that tells the whole story)
Dominated against a team that have really struggled this year.

Re: Ben Youngs

Amazing what he can do when he plays with good players and has a good game plan. Hang your heads in shame for saying Sam Harrison is better Amazing what he can do in a style of play that plays to his strengths and against a team that sloppily defends the breakdown. Hang your head in shame for think...

Re: Leonard Cohen RIP

One of those artists who had a knack for capturing the uncertainty and ambiguity of life with humour and depth - a true songwriter whose skill is matched only by Tom Waits and Nick Cave.

Re: George Ford

I'm gutted. I want to keep both OW and Fred, who are very complementary - you can choose who to play first depending on your tactics. Personally I always like OW on first, then Fred to wreck them in the second half. Just out of interest, are we convinced that Ford coming heralds the departure of ei...

Re: London Welsh

I still think some kind of formula will be worked out to tide them over until at least the end of the season. If needs be I think the Welsh RFU will step in if no other parties come forward. After all you can't have a league which includes London Scottish & London Irish exist without a London W...

Re: Tigers v Racing 92

Pound for pound, I am of the opinion that O'Connor is probably our best player. He starts for me, without question. I agree; he's quick over the ball and it often seems like there's two of him on the pitch, he covers a lot of ground. Remember, it's hard to be an effective link player when the rest ...

Re: Tigers v Glasgow

So even playing to a strict structure under orders requires the right people in charge. Agreed, and that was really my point. When we had both an attacking (whatever one might think about O'Connor) and defensive structure, we also had Toby Flood and Anthony Allen, respectively. When either was out ...

Re: Tigers v Glasgow

As soon as you hear the term ‘anticipation’ and ‘play what’s in front of you’ being bandied about, you’re in trouble. For one, not all players are as quick to analyse or respond to a situation and this will inevitably leave gaps in understanding and, thus, defence. For example, there’s no point in w...

Sad News Anthony Foley has passed away- Tributes here please

Terribly sad news. Condolences to his family, the squad, and the fans - one of those you recognize as the heart of the club.

Equally, you could argue that Cockerill did well in a difficult situation when the club had not filled the vacancy left by Matt O'Connor.

Re: Sacking due to recruitment

No cohesion or leadership in the team. Even when we had average forwards we made something out of nothing in the backs through pace and inventiveness (Cusworth and Underwoods etc). I think you've hit the nail on the head. Identifying the root of the problem is the key issue, now. It's not going to ...

Re: Sacking due to recruitment

You mention Rizzo twice, imply De Villiers was a forward, identify two players who have only played a handful of games for the club and one who was excellent between injuries last year and has had flashes of excellence this year, too. In short, I think you're speaking out of anger or frustration mo...

Re: Half Backs

Given the personnel in our back line and back row, the starting scrum half has to be Sam Harrison. His does the basics (ie gets to the ruck and passes the ball) quicker and better than Youngs. He might not be as 'flashy' but when you've got the back line we've got, I think speed of ball is more effe...

Tait has done well in the centres at 12, so I for one can't wait to see him again in his more natural position. Betham probably deserves a rest and is likely to be very effective getting to the outside against tired defences.
