Re: 5 Tigers in England U20 squad

Agreed, pretty athletic too. Really hope we're still keeping tabs on him! Rumour is we've acquired Will Wand from Coventry for next season so we must have someone keeping an eye on how Coventry are getting on. Owen will have some competition at Coventry for game time next season. Just looking at hi...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Lukhan Salakaia-Loto and Cabous Eloff would add physicality and carrying that we need in the pack. If Carnduff hadn't come through so well at the end of the season I'd have agreed 100% on Salakaia-Loto. If he could cover 8 I'd also be more in favour. He's one that I think Schmidt will be encouragin...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

They went into administration before the season started and were effectively run by the ARU. No realistic buyers have come forward so they'll be wound up at the end of the season. That's certainly what the ARU's statement says.... The administrators found a buyer who satisfied the creditors vote. T...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

You've got to wonder what this does to morale. Some players will be in discussions for contracts next year so be going through the motions and not wanting to put their bodies on the line and risk injury that might jeopardise the move. Others will be facing unemployment and be desperate to show up w...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Melbourne Rebels have been confirmed as disbanding at the end of the season. Quite a bit of shopping going to be done on their squad. Some rumours other Australian franchises are ready to take on the Wallaby players but some of the others might have to move elsewhere. Eloff could still be announced...

Sounds like the Rebels are going. Sounds like someone should also be getting criminal charges looking at the articles I have seen Any players that might be worth a look? Eloff who we've been linked with is there... Other Rebels players worth a look at has got to include Carter Gordon given we need ...

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/article/rob-baxter-interview-exeter-chiefs-golden-generation-started-to-believe-own-hype-b902sg33t Rob Baxter took a pretty thinly veiled dig at Nowell, the Simmons brothers & Cowan-Dickie in this interview. Nowell gave an equally thinly veiled one b...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Joe Simmonds is the leading points scorer in the Top14 this season so his stock is on the up and he is probably well-settled in Pau next to the Pyrénées! Then again, Leicester has Bradgate Park, which ain’t as bad as all that, innit? Not a surprise he's doing so well. He's a classy player. Never un...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I think a more experienced stop gap might be a logical idea, but might be an unaffordable one. Shillcock has proved he can do a job at 10 so I think focus should probably be on recuiting Pollard's replacement ahead of next season IF he is moving on. I'd prefer a decent project player. I used him as...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

All good points, the only part I would slightly question is that if Pollard was to move on, I understand it’s a big if at present, we would need to know ASAP. Fly halfs of that quality aren’t hanging from trees ready to be picked, so a plan needs to be in place. If I remember correctly Ford announc...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I think everyone is in agreement that a 10 is needed. The big question is are we looking at a project type 10, or a more experienced stop gap in case Pollard moves on Pollard isn't moving before next summer and there's more options available next summer. Address that issue then, if it is an issue. ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I'd go for Ben Volavola of the available 10s who seem reasonable targets from a cap perspective. Quite. I suggested Pellegrini as an example as he's possibly and example of several "desirable" qualities: 1) relatively young (so potential for long term option) 2) has demonstrated potential...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Kinda is a surprise given Leinster have 3 international 10’s and one deemed the future. All their younger 10’s are better than Ross they just need to actually play them in the big games I don’t see the IRFU evening entertaining it Yes but none of their 10s are Sexton. Frawley whilst young may be fe...
