Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20

According to 'The Rugby Paper' (Fissler) Bath are turning their attention to Damian Willemse (Stormers) in their search for a Fly Half. Seemingly endless speculation must be doing wonders for Rhys Priestland's peace of mind..... I should think he knows that Bath will sign some competition for him a...

Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20

I think he’s a significantly better player than Taute. Don't know he hasn't played Union in a couple of years. Taute is a very clever player he I think worries about his lack of pace and tries too hard to compensate. Interesting that Liebenburg in his interview talked about how Taute and Ford were ...

Re: Romain Poite

I was under the impression that all players and officials had their temperature taken when they arrived at the ground and were subject to regular testing. You'd certainly hope that the ref had undergone all of that and doesn't have Covid. He could just have a cold or allergies. Don't forget that it...

Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20

I think Burrell is exactly the sort of player we need in the centre and I was hoping we might sign him! I’m Sure he will do well at Newcastle At 32 he's a bit past his best for us to be interested. He wasn't that quick in his peak so he's now definitely a smash it up 12 which we don't need when we ...

Re: QF cancelled - Castres forfeit match!

A thousand unprintable oaths! I was quite looking forward to this.... I fear for a satisfactory conclusion for the European competitions. Oh you never know. Look at all the matches that have been played so far. This seems very much to be the exception.....for now. I think it's only been games in Fr...

Re: Tigers vs Castres - 20 Sep 20 at 1500

in what universe is Wells a better back row player than Taufua? Second half impact. Wells is there to take the sting out of the Castres rolling maul and forwards, should bolster our rolling maul as well. Second half we'll want to up the tempo and try to take advantage of the tiring Castres pack. Ta...

Re: Tigers vs Castres - 20 Sep 20 at 1500

Probably our strongest team at the moment, really hope we can put in a performance. Haven’t been too fussed about the premiership, with automatic relegation and mid-week games, but a win on Sunday would be massive. Interesting that Wells is starting again at 6. Wonder what’s happened to Enever, see...

Re: Freddie Steward

I agree wouldn't want him dropped into the England team too early and have his confidence knocked. Apprentice player so he can go and learn in camp would be ideal. He's only 19 and already this good we want to build him up gradually so he fulfills all of his massive potential. Massive is the word fo...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

A third tighthead would be looking towards the future. Dan will be 34 by next summer and whilst he may be one of the best props we've ever produced we can't rely on him being the go to option every week like he has been for the last decade. Leatigaga, Genge and Gigena could be called up internationa...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

On the prop front, wouldn’t mind looking at the championship, Nottingham for example have Heffernan and Sio (ex-Tiger) who could do a job in the premiership. RB is right, think Dimen and Whitcombe both need some more exposure especially in the set piece before making the step up. For the future tho...

Re: Team vs Saints

Think Barnes said the mitigation was that Steward had dipped/was going down just before contact and therefore only a yellow. Red for me but there was a dip by Steward so you can see why Barnes opted for that card I guess I thought any dip by Steward was very minimal, especially compared with Atkins...

Steward.. what a tackle that was!
To me that looked like Steward confirming that he's a Premiership quality 15. Brilliant.
He's looked considerably better than England fullback Furbank on the other side.

Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20

An open secret that Bath have been looking for a fly half , but this one , really ? https://www.ruck.co.uk/reports-premiership-side-enquire-about-signing-johnny-sexton-in-2021/ If Bath have a good young flyhalf for him to mentor it could work out really well. Does feigning injury come into mentorin...
