Re: Tigers v Nottingham (A) - Friendly - Friday 09th February 2024
I did wonder whether there might have been a smattering of senior players in there, but I'm looking forward to watching the development team and seeing quite a few players that I haven't seen "live" before. Used to thoroughly enjoy the old A League games and this is a similar rare-ish oppo...

Re: 5 Tigers in England U20 squad
Must be as he only signed last January. He sounds like a player who's worked his way from the back of the scrum to the front, and historically they've been quite successful! I may be wrong (as I can't find it now) I have a recollection that due to logistical issues they allow players at age grades ...

Re: Tigers v Quins (A) - Premiership - Friday 26th January 2024 - KO- 19:45
I don’t think anyone thought we’d win this- away to the team 2nd in the league. We negated their strengths really well and won. With a shed load of players missing. Bit surprised to read the negative comments Agree We got our tactics pretty spot in and executed them well (most of the time). Defence...

Re: Tigers vs Sale (A) - Prem Rugby Cup - Friday 15th September 2023 KO 7-45pm
You wouldn’t say many of that team would get in Sales strongest side, there seems to be an absence of any South Africans Will be interesting to see Ernst van Rhyn, former junior Springbok captain Ah your knowledge has definitely trumped mine. Other than this young man there seems to be none of the ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe
I was not particularly impressed by Gigena a when he was last with us so see no point in a return. I am with you on that JTG. Agree he wasn't pulling up trees week in week out when he was with us, but as a stop-gap (injury issues with Cronin and Whitcombe and big drop in experience below Cronin) he...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe
Weak spot perhaps a bit harsh as both Cronin and Whitcombe are either quality now, or have the ceiling. I think it’s the depth and consistency element at LH that I agree with. Both Cronin and Whitcombe were injured for large parts and that only leaves van Wyk (who is a solid LH - I don’t always see...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe
Well that's not great - must admit I thought he was staying For me, he has been our best scrummaging LH for the second half of this season and has a great work rate in the loose, though to be fair Cronin seems have had injuries and not quite firing on all cylinders. Having them both, with Whitcombe ...

Feels a nicely balanced starting side.
Having Montoya back is great - pretty sure he is a cyborg though - wasn't he in a knee brace a couple of weeks ago?

Re: PRC Semi final vs London Irish (A) - 26th April 2022
I have no problem with the team that either side put out - both made sense given their circumstances. To be honest, what really grated for me was the BT commentary (asides from a few last-minute observations) which seemed happy to largely ignore the nature (and associated expectations) of the side t...
