Re: Borthwick
New twist! The 'confirmation' of Borthwick joining at the end of the season from the RFU has been removed from the BBC article. I read on Ruck.co.uk that Tigers and RFU can't agree terms and I hear a rumour via a connected friend that Borthwick could now be going to Sarries!!! I am not too sure why...

Re: Borthwick
I did put the link above, appreciate its from late December but it seems that the lack of agreement between Tigers and RFU is why Borthwick signed up as skills coach for the 6N. Maybe Sarries have now jumped in because of Tigers not being able to agree a deal? Maybe part of the Sarries refresh? What...

Re: New signings
Bring Will Hurrell back from Bristol? Currently on loan at Bath having been out of favour this season, but he was actually up there with Jason Woodward as their best player in the prem last season. I love his power.

Re: New Forwards Coach - Mark Bakewell
Hmmm, this thread seems to have gone off topic somewhat. Back to the Bakewell appointment, he does seem to have a good reputation but if you've watched the Bristol pack over the couple of years they have been under him, they have really struggled at set piece, particularly at scrum time. Even on a 1...

Re: New fly-half
GOT TO back George Ford. On loan until the end of the season, lets see what he can do next season. The management need to back these youngsters now to stop them leaving a la Billy.

Re: The breakdown is killing the game!
Yep, completely agree with all of this. My old man used to be a ref and at his old meetings at the Gloucestershire refs society, they used to discuss the fact that if a player at a ruck could not support themselves if their arms were taken from under them, they should be pinged. This seems to have g...

Post 6N Lions Team
Well, the 6 Nations is over. Based on what we have seen, who would make up your Lions 1st XV in the summer? My Recommendation: 15 Byrne 14 Bowe 13 O Driscoll 12 Flutey / Henson if slightly interested 11 S Williams 10 S Jones 9 Blair 8 Heaslip 7 M Williams 6 Croft 5 O Connell 4 Wyn Jones 3 Murray 2 F...

Re: 'Save the Vest'
I completely agree with the comments made here. Vesty is one of the underrated, underused members of the sqaud. I like hime at 15 actually, not 10; he cuts great lines in attack.

Re: David Lemi
As a Bristolian myself, I'm afraid it looks inevitable that we will be relegated this season and even more inevitable that the likes of Lemi, Ward-Smith and Tom Arscott will look for moves. I've got a soft spot for Tigers as I've been living up here for a few years and been a Welford Road regular fo...

2009 Lions Team?
Come on then,it's 2009; the year of the Lions tour to South Africa. On current form, who gets in the test match XV? My current crop- 15 Byrne 14 Sackey 13 O'Driscoll 12 Henson (maybe not on current form, but if he decides he wants to play!) 11 S Williams 10 Cipriani 9 Blair 8 Powell 7 M Williams 6 H...

Re: Lewsey the Lion ??
Let's be honest about Lewsey, who is better at full back at the moment? Lee Byrne, that's it. Let's forget about Geordan Murphy, who used to be up there with the best, he hasn't been for 2-3 seasons now.

Still too early to call but on current / last season form: 15 Byrne 14 Sackey 13 O'Driscoll 12 Henson 11 Williams 10 Cipriani 9 Blair 8 R Jones 7 Rees 6 Haskell 5 O'Connell 4 Wyn-Jones 3 Stevens 2 Hartley 1 Sheridan Not sure about a few positions - Hooker, South African hookers will be far superior....
