https://www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/2020/01/20/exclusive-half-premiership-rugby-clubs-exploiting-loan-loophole/ Lord Myners, a City specialist overseeing a review of regulations following the Saracens scandal, will scrutinise a controversial clause allowing teams to write off wages by declaring ...

Re: Pau vs Tigers - Sat 18 Jan 20

"BTW it wasn’t only me who mentioned Simmons kicking the ball down the throat of one of the best counter attacking 15s ever to have played the game, pretty sure that won’t have been the game plan" Why would think that? It seems to be the strategy every other game. Tigers often kick long to the oppos...

Re: Pau vs Tigers - Sat 18 Jan 20

15 missed tackles already, probably an under estimate since on a few occasions that did not even attempt a tackle.

As soon as the team is under pressure all teamwork and organisation falls apart.

Kick chase has been dreadful for a while now, having Ben Smith at 15 just exposes it.

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

Reported on the Beeb that even if relegated there are benefits to Sarries star players to remain at the club as they can focus on playing for England whilst looking after their bodies with the occasional Championship run out and get plenty of quality training and rest to prolong their careers. Thes...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation / Grounds for Appeal

Daily Mail is usually pretty accurate on rugby reporting. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/article-7896673/Saracens-brink-automatic-relegation-Premiership.html Looks like they are between a rock and a hard place. Probably going to accept a year in the Championship (where there is no sala...

Good to get another win. Was that the first time in a while that Tigers came out in the second half and hit the ground running?

Tigers look under-powered not helped by White killing any momentum at every breakdown.

Re: Johnny May

Saints also have 3 very good locks in Lawes, Ribbans and Moon. Rutuniyarawa is getting towards to end of his career but he's a very fine 4th choice lock as well. Chatting with a Saints fan during the Wasps game today he made the interesting observation that their squad is very streamlined now. Ther...

Re: Tigers vs Bristol - 04th January 2020

A much needed win and some excellent performances. BUT we should not lose sight of the fact Tigers are still in the relegation zone and will need to back that performance up in subsequent premiership matches. The two yellow cards had a significant impact on the result, both were fully deserved and t...

Re: Ben Youngs

If he box kicks no-one chases. If he snipes close the breakdown no-one follows him so he can't offload and he gets isolated and turned over. If he tries to pass to a forward, they are standing still and gets stopped behind the mainline. He then has to run backwards to get to the breakdown and dig it...

Re: Tigers vs Bristol - 04th January 2020

Manu isn't a particularly good 12. Completely agree re the past, but that was then and he is a different player now. That channel is so vulnerable especially to passive tackles which Ford, Reid and Taute will concede when pounded by the Bears ferocious back row and centres. Temporarily we'll at lea...

Re: Tigers vs Bristol - 04th January 2020

Key to beating Bristol is to match their work-rate and hammer them in the set-piece.

Need a back-row who are unrelenting at the breakdown.

If Green is unwilling/unable to carry more he is the one who should be replaced.
