Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 1

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/leicester-confident-of-luring-steve-borthwick-away-from-rfu-role-t0wbl5nhn Old story rehashed or are we looking at replacing Bakewell for the 2020/21 season? I'd expect Borthwick to want a bigger role than just forwards coach. I'd imagine, depending on how this se...

Re: Premiership table 2019/20

1. Exeter 2. Gloucester 3. Saracens 4. Northampton 5. Tigers 6. Bristol 7. Sale 8. Harlequins 9. Bath 10. Wasps 11. Irish 12. Worcester I think 4 to 8 will be interchangeable in my mind, but in fairness I don't see Exeter running away with it either. Boyd did an excellent job with Saints last season...

Re: Ford in The Mail today

Reading that it makes you wonder if I've been too harsh on the coaching set up. If people are happy to lose by that much they aren't going to care if the coach tells them to change something.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 1

Not sure how a coach getting experience at a event like the rugby world cup is too bad. Rowntree is doing the same with Munster and people on here was desperate for him to join us. I just want to clarify that I have no issue with Stanko going to the RWC. Great experience for him which can only bene...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 1

Boris has been announced as joining Canada for the Rugby World Cup. Also seems to confirm that there won't be a change to the forwards coaching either as Bakewell and Brett confirmed as filling in for Boris. Seems fair following a season of the worst forward performances in Tigers history that the ...

May seem a silly question but we have lost one of our 2 marquee players and don't seem to have signed anyone who would be a marquee player so who is our 2nd one or is that signing still to be announced?
Think its Taufau but could also be Lavanini.

Re: Howard to mentor Murphy

So where will the rumoured appointment of a DoR post World Cup leave the Murphy/Howard pairing? I still think we'll see Geordan move to DoR if the club can sign a head coach to work within the existing structure. Especially now that there is a vacancy with no Head of Rugby operations around. This w...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Racking my brains to think who else could be coming from in?! Are we waiting on the possibility of sadly losing Denton? Donnach O'Ryan? Another winger? Blommtjes coming back? A 12? My choice would be a 12. Thoughts? Manu, Taute, Reid, Thomas, Eastmond, Viljoen, Hardwick, Worth Why would we add yet ...

Another top coach moves, with Mike Catt joining Ireland as attack coach after the RWC.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

The only reason we are sticking with Bakewell is because the board want to try and get rid of the sacking culture.

Hes done nothing as forwards coach except oversee a pack that cannot ruck, cannot maul and run a lottery of a line out

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Gibson plus either of Booth or Borthwick would go a long way to correcting things in my opinion. Add two of those to Murphy, Ford and Boris, big difference. However, with Howard also back in the mix (part time), I think that’ll probably mean we stay as we are. Murphy, Ford, Bakewell and Boris. See,...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

We've just had the worst season in our history, but it's okay we'll stick with what we got? Bakewell has proved completely ineffective. Our forwards have been woeful, yet our scrum has still been a weapon this season. That shows that effective coaching can get something out of the boys. For me at th...

Re: New coaching structure?

Borthwick a better option than Booth who is so pro Barff and so Anti Tigers. Suppose the piper pays the tune. So what we are intimating is Ford, Borthwick and Booth running the coaching under or instead of Murphs. I don't want us to be a Barff bolt on. Not now not ever. Whats next - a syndicate wit...

Re: New coaching structure?

Even with a DOR, as head coach he would have full control of the team and playing style. Seems to work very well for Gloucester with Humphreys and Ackerman. Even he had gone to Wasps, Dai would have remained head coach. According to their website hes DoR so had though Borthwick would have gone in a...
