I appreciate the clubs do not want to lose the funding gained from the EDF, but speaking as a supporter, I would rather see the major competitions given as much value as possible. In terms of the Premiership, this means teams not being shorn of their best players for large chunks of the season. But ...

I have no doubt the clubs want to keep the EDF going as it certainly is a bit of a cash cow, but wouldn't an improved league format, which allows teams the chance to select their best XV every week, become a more attractive package to fans and potential sponsors, therefore making up the shortfall in...

I think i'm right in saying that we agree that the best players available should be picked on a form basis for England. Given that Vainikolo is clearly playing well, and is available/eligible for England, surely it would be against common sense and the generally agreed standpoint of selection. My s...

Although I agree it's daft that the likes of Vainikolo can represent more than one country, I have no problem with BA selecting him for the England squad. The problem lies within the laws of the game, but as they allow Ashton to select him, then I think he'd be mad not to include him. Vainikolo has ...

Well it would be pretty harsh for the captain to blame Goode when it was his decision to kick for the posts in the first place. I can't help thinking a skipper should have realised his fly-half was having an off-day and opted to try an use his lineout in the corner instead, because that was one aspe...

I can remember an interview with Dayglo a couple of years back (possibly in the Telegraph), in which he said if he could alter one thing about rugby, it would be to extend half-time by five minutes to aid players' recovery. I wonder if the decision has been taken with the players or the moneymen in ...

I really don't think I'd take Lund or Easter at all. I'd much rather have a back row comprising Moody, Rees and Florence, with Haskell and Corry to come off the bench after an hour or so. Maybe even James Forrester would push for a bench place if he was fully fit. Much as i like Corry, I don't think...
