Re: New coaching structure?

That’s been the key thing. A lot of the new signings talk about how Murphy has sold the project to them. He clearly has a vision of where he wants to get to, buy perhaps struggles to get that over out on the training pitch. Does Humphreys and Ackerman work? It appears so. Potentiality moving Murphy ...

Re: New coaching structure?

As a relatively inexperienced head coach, I think if we are to stick with Murphy, then he needs some experienced heads around him. So long as Ford is happy with whatever remit he’s given, I think it can only strengthen us, as they seem to get on well, and Ford does have significant experience. The i...

Stories coming out of Wales are they haven’t been impressed with him. So maybe there is potential they could release him.

Hadn’t noticed him in the list of confirmed leavers?

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

Securing an early release Blommetjies to join our (potentially) growing South African contingent. Mapoe is an odd one, if we’ve already got Reid, Taute, Tuilagi, Eastmond and Viljoen? Do we need a 6th senior centre? Likewise, Jantjes, that’d be a big shift in salary outlay as a replacement for Joe F...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

The bits of Viljoen I’ve seen, albeit mainly from youtube etc, he seems like a specialist 13, although slated as able to play wing/fullback. Rangy kind of centre rather than outright pacy, fairly physical, but with an ability to get past the defender and find his support with offloads, and he runs d...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

Known signings left to be announced Leibenberg, Coghlan & Viljoen. Still a need for a Senior 7 option, plus potentially back up at 10 and definitely some additional back three options. Wallace has yet to be signed anywhere else, or at least be announced as such. Ten could be be left alone given Reid...

Re: Alex Goode's Wild Ride

In the pub picture, he has black top base layer and white cycling shorts.
During the game photos, he has no top base layer and dark under shorts.
Good setup though to get people talking.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

Little surprised at Feao, thought he’d stay and Cortes may well move on. Likewise expected Hills to make way with Grahamslaw apparently so highly rated. Elsewhere no great surprises, half expected Blommetjies to join up, but since he’s on loan, he’d be released/returned officially. Doesn’t rule out ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

Potentially four further back row additions then, Liebenberg and Coghlan who we already know about, plus replacements for O’Connor and Denton? Big squad reshuffle. Possibly needed in some places (not all), but ultimately going to be a whole lot of settling in. Would be surprised unless some are pro...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

I got the impression Liebenberg is predominately an 8 who has been moved over to 6 because Vermeulen is there. Liam Squire plays 8 for Highlanders but 6 for NZ because Reid is there. Wouldn’t get too hung up on that. The six shirt is pretty well covered with a few able to play 6 or 8 quite fluidly, ...

Sale just announced the signing of Coenie Oosthuizen. Suspect that’s a replacement for the Kitshoff deal that fell through.

Clubs offering perks as opposed to salaries.
Exactly this. Just been talking to a bloke who works with some of the Burton management. Bosch’s deal with Burton is negligible in terms of professional rugby player salary, but it’s other opportunities outside of rugby which make it more attractive.

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2018-19

Varies club by club. I know clubs a level or two below that who do pay, albeit only a nominal amount, not a full salary.
