Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Episode 3 The revenge of the Contracts.

Understanding we need to shave numbers off the squad, and ultimately some of the younger players have a great opportunity (with no relegation looming), to put themselves into contention during the remainder of this season with reduced pressure. Here’s my take on what we are losing from the squad, an...

A backup 12 to replace Eastmond, assuming Scott effectively replaces Reid as starter. A starting 13 to replace Manu A backup 13 to replace Viljoen, assuming Kelly effectively replaces Thomas as depth. A starting 14 to replace Holmes, assuming Potter effectively replaces Thompstone as depth. A 15 to ...

A little underwhelming today, good news, but doesn’t feel like new news.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

What are the chances the two are Manu and Taufua, since Genge and Ford signing new deals is already in the public domain?

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

Just a feeling ,perhaps just guessing but I do feel that the The Club - before the week is out - will pull a rabbit out of the hat in terms of re-signings and/or signings.... Have to agree with you. Prior to the contracts situation, we were apparently looking for another back row player to join Bri...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

Hanro does have potential to be a tigers skipper. Captained South Africa at U20 level, plus The Bulls.
I’m uncertain Genge and Ford would be amongst the contract renewals announced tomorrow, it’s already been reported in the press, it would be old news really.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

I think we’re still one prop short now Bateman has gone, maybe just for twelve months whilst the apparent conveyor belt starts to kick in, Dimen, Whitcombe, Rowntree, with Smith and Hoyt apparently highly rated also.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

Another Prem ready option to replace Bateman would be Lucas Noguera recently released from Bath, but would that impact our O/S player count. Good stuff these contract renewals. These must have been signed off by Borthwick, so shows where he sees the squad is, in regards to how he wants to shape the ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

If Manu does indeed recommit, then I see no issue with Freddie being Logo’s agent. Given the the current climate, anyone not already in contract is going to have to temper their wage expectations, 75% of something is better than 100% of nothing. Logo, at 33 years of age, may see some security at Tig...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

If Manu does stay, you’d still take De La Fuente as replacing Reid and Eastmond wouldn’t you. Albeit then comes the passport issue, how many O/S players we have (non Kolpak). On that subject, I see on Bath’s list of leavers, Lucas Noguera, a tidy LH option? Also Levi Douglas as lick/six, always look...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

Not sure Abendanon would be on my list either, perhaps Alivereti Veitokani (just released from LI) would be a better bet. Very balanced and elusive runner, with a better kicking game. Given I don’t expect any of the stood down players to stay, I’d say we still need to replace the follow players Bate...
