Re: Law changes coming in to effect 1st July

The call is often made too late and then they don't stick to the 5 seconds. The problem for the refs is now the whole thing has become so orchestrated and has been in practice for such a long time,. The idea of a new law would change the dynamic. Once presented there will be no point in the scrum h...

Re: Law changes coming in to effect 1st July

No issue with the Caterpillar so long as the ball is used when the call is made and refs stick to the 5 seconds The call is often made too late and then they don't stick to the 5 seconds. Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I think that is a good point but one I see slightly differently. In an ideal world you have excellent first choice players with solid back up an developing third choices. Our success in developing and attracting international talent has meant that we are too often left with the solid players are ou...

Re: Dan Mckellar

I, for one, just want this fragmented season to end so we can get on to the next. We can then judge McKellar based on his coaching appointments (debate can rage whether Richardson and Dickens were his or not - what's not open to debate is that the new attack and S&C coach will be his appointmen...

Re: Dan Mckellar

I'm quite disappointed with the way this season has panned out, but if anyone was expecting a smooth upward trajectory from the title-winning season, then they're expecting a bit too much - or at least, it's unfair to pin it on McKellar. In a sense a lot of things fell nicely for 2021-22. Burns, Pot...

They are not calling you glib, they are calling your generalisation glib, and they have a point. McKellar will be responsible for the results if they are ultimately not good enough, the buck stops with him as Head Coach. But he is not and cannot be responsible for the players not being fit enough. ...

It really isn't.
It's surely in line with pre-match expectations. It's far from the most disappointing result (Bristol) and performance (take your pick) of the season.

Re: Tigers v Sale (A) - Premiership - Friday 10th May 2024 - KO: 7:45pm

So probably the kind of result we might have expected. There's a lot for next season's coaching team to chew on there though. I hope the next S&C guy is already crunching the fitness numbers (if he can possibly know what the structure of the season will be). A brilliant new attack coach is not g...

Re: Tigers v Sale (A) - Premiership - Friday 10th May 2024 - KO: 7:45pm

The likes of Clive (Eddie Jones is another prime example) are regularly guilty of trying to make things more complicated than they need to be, because they're trying far too hard to look clever. Steward just needs to play a bit better. That's all. The same could be said of Tigers as a whole at the ...

Re: New Supporters Forum?

I assume that it's no more than a case of knowing that there will be injuries to cover, squad members who don't work out and get traded, and just knowing that there'll be business done in the market after the season starts. So maybe they don't know how they'll spend up to the cap, but they know with...

Re: 23/24 Injury/Suspension/Absent International List

Different refs have their own lines the players shouldn't cross, which is understandable. Where it gets annoying to this viewer, especially given you can't hear everything that's said, is when a ref says "I don't want to hear from you again" and then remains all chummy with the other team....

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

That's because the winning teams are usually the ones who got the bounce of the ball. Look at our title winning season, so many times we got the rub of the green, a favourable refereeing decision, a lucky bounce. A lot of off-field things aligned to give us a chance of a title, which the players to...

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

I'm not inclined to blame the head coach for everything that happens on the pitch, but I can't imagine for a second that anyone's immediate instinct is to kick away posession from the opposition half like that unless it's an attacking grubber kick or chip ahead for a runner coming through at pace. ...
