Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2021/22 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACTS: Steve Borthwick and the Chamber of Oval Park
That something else has to pay the bills. Being head coach of a major national side is often an end of career thing. Lancaster is the exception as is Jones but most don’t come back to top club level. This makes it too early for Borthwick. I just don’t see Sean Edwards wanting to be England defence c...

What I have seen of Radwan suggests he has serious gas but some way off in other areas of his game.
In the era of restricted salary caps I suspect wingers will find that only the very top ones will command the money they once did.

Somewhat overdue I would say.
Always had the talent and has developed the physical side of his game and shone this season.

Re: Rassie's job is no more
I have said for years, if you want a drink then you should go to the touchline by the technical area. If that takes you out of position then it's your problem. The exceptions should be on very hot spring days when if the temp is high enough a brief drinks break halfway through each half could be agr...

Re: EPCR Semi finals
Personally I think Tigers next season will be better placed than this to challenge in Europe. Think the opposite for Sarries, they're losing players like Koch who will be hard to replace... Agree Koch is probably in the worlds best 3 tightheads. I think we should not underestimate the loss of Genge...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2021/22 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACTS: Aled Walters and the Philosopher's Stone
The enforcer concept is pretty irrelevant in the era of TMOs and citings. We need a powerful second row to put grunt in the scrum and a bit of rumbling in the loose. What’s Gopperth’s role? Player coach possibly but not sure he would start if Kelly is fit. Back up kicker when Pollard is away with SA...

Re: New captain
Hanro. For me Wells isn’t a guaranteed starter so not for me. Cole too quiet but then again it is useful to have someone who remains calm at all times which would be a good quality. He plays the meathead for effect and is quite eloquent but as a tight head his view of the game is restricted. (Or to ...

Re: Decisions Decisions
"Average" attendance is not a good comparator for a one off European quarter final. I was surprised that Tigers did not sell out the match. When it became apparent that the sales were petering out, the marketing of the game didn't seem to ramp up. We have experienced difficulties getting t...

Re: Decisions Decisions
6000 or so seats went unsold. At say £30 each that is £240k in lost revenue. If the tickets had been on average £8 less then the match would have likely sold out and the shop, food and drink sales would have been perhaps 25% greater too. Even £10 less might well have still seen the club better off. ...

Re: Decisions Decisions
The kicking to the corner wasn't the problem. Montoya may be a brilliant hooker but occasionally has a wobbly day in the line out. Unfortunately that was Saturday. We made too many silly errors and never got into a game against a very strong side. Was the ticket pricing wrong? Possibly but I suspect...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (H) - Saturday 07th May 2022 - 5-30pm KO
I was not making a case for Regions. I was suggesting that in the current situaltion with the reducing salary cap that participation in Europe was of limited benefit to English clubs. Financially the income could be replaced by having a proper cup competition for the premiership. I have never been a...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (H) - Saturday 07th May 2022 - 5-30pm KO
The salary cap is a choice made by the clubs. The question has to be as to whether it is worth playing in Europe given this voluntary handicap. If Wales drop to 3 regions then we will have a situation where the games are against the mega bucks French sides and the Wales and Irish training squads. Ar...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (H) - Saturday 07th May 2022 - 5-30pm KO
Perhaps but may reflect the recognition we were a club up against a province and the one that hosts the bigger part of the Irish team. The clubs may accept the TV money but sooner or later the clubs may have to say no. Let's face it the English TV audience wants to see English clubs in fair contests...

Re: Tigers v Leinster (H) - Saturday 07th May 2022 - 5-30pm KO
Too many errors in the first half and squandered opportunities in both. But a titanic effort befitting of Tigers. Took a bit too long to figure them out. However should be proud of taking the fight to the greater part of the Ireland training squad. Odd choices: Wigglesworth & Nadolo, the former ...

Re: WRU regional cut
So, are they assuming that these players will sign for English cubs? Or play in the national second tier competition? Will the English clubs be happy to do so and continue to lose them for the international window? Or will they tie them into contracts that relinquish international selection. It’s on...
