Re: Racing 92 & Stade Francais to merge

I am pleased to hear Ze Stade Fan's response :smt001 However, I should have made the point that the same applies to Racing and their fans as well as Stade and their fans, although I appreciate that comments have been made that "Racing are taking over Stade" rather than it being a "true" merger. Mayb...

Re: Racing 92 & Stade Francais to merge

My advice to Ze Stade Fan and all his fellow fans is stay true to what you believe. If what happens means setting up a new Stade Francais which has to start from the bottom then so be it - if the fans are resolute and look to support such a project. If they want inspiration then they only have to lo...

Re: Racing 92 & Stade Francais to merge

Cannot quite get my head around this! :smt017 On the assumption that it is true - no reason to believe that JackFlashJonny has been deceived (April Fools Day is not here yet!) - then it is quite amazing. The key question will be as to what the real motives are behind the move? This is where I would ...

Should it have been a penalty try and a yellow card?

I watched the Newcastle v Leicester match yesterday, and I think I spotted a professional foul which was not picked up by the commentators, which had a significant impact on the game. This was early in the second half when Tigers were awarded a penalty right under the Falcons’ posts. Ben Youngs deci...

Re: Development Squad

Is it me, or has it gone quiet on which Development (and Academy) players are being retained and which are being released? I know that some have definitely departed (e.g. Umaga) but given the original post to this thread, I would have anticipated a general club announcement by now. After all, any pl...

Goneva Tackling

Before I start, I must say that I am a big fan of Niki, and I wish him all the very best at Newcastle Falcons. He is without doubt one of the most clinical finishers that Tigers have had. BUT........ One thing that has always worried me - and looking back at the Semi against Saracens - is that I do ...

Re: Genge for England.

RagingBull beat me to it with his thoughts :smt001 Given that AFAIK the loan deal stated that Genge would be available back to Bristol for the Play-off Final, if they got to it, then I suppose that technically he could be required to be available for Wednesday's 2nd Leg versus Doncaster. Therefore, ...

Different Attitudes to Eye Gouging?

Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere, but I find the variation in attitudes to eye-gouging between Rugby Union and Football quite amazing. In the recent Chelsea v Tottenham match the Spurs players completely "lost it" when it finished 2-2 and thereby ended their chances of beating the Foxes...

Re: A bit of perspective

I have to say that the one thing that keeps coming to mind about the Racing match (and several other games this season) is the number of penalties that are regularly given away by Dom Barrow. I am starting to think that he is a "points machine" - but for the opposition! :smt010 As I recall he gave a...

Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours Thread Part 3

Pat Cilliers Wikipedia page states (today) "He then moved to Cape Town, where he played Super Rugby for the Stormers and Currie Cup rugby for Western Province. He then joined South African coach Jake White at French Top 14 side Montpellier, where he played from 2014 to 2016 before joining English Pr...

Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours Thread Part 3

I agree whole heartedly with the point that TBD makes about Harry Thacker potentially being a big star in Rugby League. As well as following the Tigers, I follow Leeds Rhinos in Super League - what a season 2016 was! :smt003 This was in part because my son moved to Leeds not far from Headingley and ...

Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours Thread Part 2

I see this as very positive from Tigers point of view.

I think it means that Scarlets have pretty much given up on trying to lure Owen Williams back, which was quite a strong rumour at one point.

Re: 2015/16 Squad/Contracts/Rumours Thread Part 2

Message to Raging Bull: Please, please, please keep up the good work! :smt041 Like others have said your "Rumours" thread is the one that I home in on for updates more than any other, and I very much appreciate that (a) you are only keeping everyone up to speed with what is "out there" and (b) it ta...

Re: Can we please see our own salary cap announcement like t

Many thanks Ourla. As I am completely useless at reading legal stuff like this, can anyone identify and highlight what the changes are that have been made from the previous rules? I presume that there must have been some changes and that (some of) these will have been written to get rid of grey area...
