Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

On a basic level they just have the combinations and understanding - and basic skill level - to eliminate a lot of the errors we saw on Saturday for example. For me the basic skills will be there or they wouldn’t be anywhere near Prem level let alone internationals. The key is the first part of wha...

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

The kick should have been retaken - Law 20.15 applies. “The opposing team may not do anything to delay the kick or obstruct the kicker, including intentionally taking, throwing or kicking the ball out of reach of the team awarded the penalty. Sanction: Second penalty or free-kick, 10 metres in front...

Re: Tigers v Quins (A) - Premiership - Friday 26th January 2024 - KO- 19:45

Why was a URC ref, reffing a URC team? Because it can’t work that way practically so it doesn’t work that way. Any time teams from two different leagues play each other there would only be one other league to draw the officials from. Would a French referee have made such a huge difference yesterday...

Re: RWC 2023 Fixtures and results

The more I think about Marcus Smith playing 15, the more I know that failed, and it failed for the same reasons his time at 10 hasnt really matched the supposed promise. He can see the space, he can kick reasonably well, he has a good pass off both hands. But his hitch-kicks and attempted steps too ...

Re: RWC 2023 Fixtures and results

Did Marx just go off for blood, they call a water break and he’s back in before the end of the water break? Shortest substitution in rugby history if so.

Re: World Cup Squad Announcements

In all the noise about Hooper and Quade missing out on a squad place for the Aussies I had missed that Potter's return to Oz has yet to see any international recognition, not even in the training squad sfaik. Does that mean there was something else going on, for which the story of a return to gain t...

Re: World Cup Squad Announcements

I agree on both Foy and the Daily Mail TFS, but the Mail article Ruck is quoting has a counter quote from Borthwick, saying it’s still precautionary, apparently as a reaction to the Mail running the story. The article you have posted a link to is timed at 10pm last night. So it’s one DM article Vs a...

Do you have a better source than Ruck and/or the Daily Mail Scott? The Mail article quotes Borthwick as saying the call up for Mitchell is still precautionary, as a response to their story.

Re: Rugby World Cup warm up games

OF had a 4 weeks ban in January and this is part of a pattern. I don’t see much in mitigation for his actions today - no falling player or sudden change in direction - just more lazy tackling. So - couldn’t this be a doubled length ban? Would that make it 8 weeks? If so, can he be replaced in the sq...

Super Rugby Final - fans jeering

Just read a short match summary, watched a match highlight reel and read an article claiming match officials were jeered at the post match presentations by Chiefs fans. Couldn’t see why that had happened. The only ‘contentious’ decision shown in the highlights was the incident resulting in Sam Cane’...

Re: "Canon Arm" Technique

Can't find any law against deliberately going to ground
Which is why I said it’s what I remember (from playing long ago). However the laws do say clearly that rugby is a game intended to be played on the feet.
