Re: Thoughts & conclusions on the season.

I'm not sure a dominant scrum is the weapon it used to be
Yet on Saturday Bath set up their final attack on our lines from a penalty given at a collapsed scrum.

The Daily Wail is reporting tonight that Mike Ford has been offered a new contract (at Tigers), but that there’s no certainty about Geordie’s future role....

Re: Weekend match thread

:smt003 The intensity this game is being played at unfortunately makes watching Tigers the last year look like a fishing competition Agreed - all four teams in the finals this weekend would have done that though. The intensity and speed of thought and action of the top clubs is way above anything we...

Re: Coventry crowd

Grauniad today carrying a piece on the longer term options for reforming the Champions Cup, possibly with CVC input, partly in response to the structural problems that gave rise to Saturday’s poor crowd. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2019/apr/23/empty-seats-champions-cup-looking-rejig-rugby...

Re: Coventry crowd

Ah should’ve been more specific, I meant the Premiership semifinal at the Ricoh. I’m not sure what your point is now JP. Our website says the crowd that day was 29000. Again I was there- it was a Wasps home fixture and most people around me were Tigers fans and I’d say we had close to 40% of the cr...

Re: Coventry crowd

The official attendance was 16, 235 - Pathetic I swear that was OUR attendance at the semifinal in 16-17. That was the season we were thrashed by Glasgow and didn’t make the Semifinal. The season before, so April 2016, we played Racing at the City Ground, Nottingham. Our website says I was one of 2...

Re: Coventry crowd

It’s an hour and forty by car from the Allianz to the Ricoh. Euston is pretty much closed this weekend I believe.

Poor by the ERC and not a good advert for the game.

Player with the ball, half tackled, usually not held, allowed to crawl forward while clearly off feet. Defence unable to do anything to get to the ball.

Re: Phil Blake - Defence Coach

Alternatively... Its a round-ball term, often used simply to mean a heavy emphasis on defence, originally developed in Italy where they suffered years of 1-0 results as a result. More specifically means deployment of a sweeper (libero), whose only role is to act as the 'door bolt', keeping control b...
