Re: Rugby tonight
Absolutely agree with you. The head-dress has quasi religious and sacred status to some native Americans. It isn't how we view it it is whether these people genuinely hold the views they do. I thought the two interviewees last night were measured and persuasive that using their tribal dress in this ...

Re: BT Sport Coverage of Quins vs Sale .... Why Oh Why ?
Huge respect for the 11 Sale players! But doesn’t that mean they are all racist? No one must ever disagree with the perceived correct opinion! I genuinely wonder whether many people have actually researched the political aims of BLM. I strongly and firmly hate racism but the woke attitude of enforc...

Re: BT Sport Coverage of Quins vs Sale .... Why Oh Why ?
I completely disagree
It’s nothing to do with what the majority want. The majority isn’t in favour of this BLM HIGHLY political left wing movement even if individuals broadly support the aim of anti racism.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
Agreed. My experience of this stuff and I am not a lawyer, but I suspect like most contributors on here I've had experience of the law and employment issues over the years, is that the legal judgements is normally determined around the concept of 'reasonableness' and 'process'. Not the precise lett...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
It's never as easy as the papers are making it out to be for getting damages for contract breaks. A lot of times the payout is "Nominal" Most of what's been written in the press most likely has come from the same sports lawyer who is just trying to make something from it. Espcially in the...

they have a playing contract, Tigers are not letting them train or play so no they can't Refusing to allow them to train or play puts at jeopardy future earning capacity and future international caps and ancillary earnings related to playing, which are all clearly anticipated when the contracts wer...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2
Yes. But if you're in your 30's, disillusioned with the game after being treated so "unfairly" by Tigers, or perhaps were even contemplating retirement in a year or two anyway, maybe you just take the money for doing nothing. Unlikely, but possible. Nothing? I am sure Tigers could legally...

Re: Times report Ford on his way to Tigers
Firstly no one is saying FB's departure is part of a deal and if he does leave it seems it would be Freddie who doesn't want to stay and fight for the shirt. If GF comes it is a sign we can still attract high class players and is nothing but very good news. If FB doesn't want to stay that's up to him.

Re: Bath blocks Ford exit
F1 has release clause contracts, viz Paddy Lowe and Mercedes, who has been prevented from joining a non-Mercedes team. In another example, Ferrari sacked Allison, who has since been on gardening leave, and who cannot join his new team, Williams, until April. There is no element of restriction of tr...

Re: 8th minute Sunday v Racing song
Yes this is a great idea...lets give up before we even start because it probably won't work :smt023 even if 5 people sung it that would suffice Sometimes I find being a Tigers fan embarrassing (and this is not even on the pitch for once :smt012 )...to have a ground full of so called rugby fans who ...

Re: Sam Harrison's yellow card v Harlequins
There is a lot of misunderstanding around penalty tries. Law 10.2 (a) The test is not whether a try was sure to be scored, or certain, both of which imply that there must be little if any doubt. The law is that a PT should be awarded if the offence prevented a probable try, so more likely than not. ...

Roly.... for clarification purposes are you saying that you didn't see any point in Thorn playing last season and that you think he made no impact? I didn't see the point in it and he made limited impact, he was injured for a while, for example. Shrewd move? Whitecap. He's 34, not going to be aroun...

Re: Hard luck Scotland
The referee was spot on even if the ball touched an Australian (as it did). A player is only onside if the ball touches an opponent intentionally. See Law 11.3 (c) In general play there are three ways in which an offside player can be put onside..... (c) Intentionally touches the ball. When an oppon...
