Re: RWC 2023 Fixtures and results
It often gets under my skin to read the negative posts about the England team and its captain, Owen Farrell. Why the English are so prone to spout such criticism is beyond me and even when praise is due it is often tongue in cheek, ‘faint praise’. Last night, the Springboks played to the level that ...

Re: European finals weekend - May 2022
My local in Ste Foy la Grande was hopping - the patron and his wife have links with La Rochelle. A superb victory, well earned - how often are Leinster tryless ? The French always like to show their dislike of authority so nothing personal against Wayne - except that he’s English !

Re: Return fixture - Clermont (H) - 16th April 2022
Not only do we have a 19 point advantage but we also have a try advantage of +4. That would come into play if aggregate scores are level at the end of 80 minutes.

Re: Clermont (Away) - Sunday 10th April 2022
For the statisticians among you all, on Sunday, Morgan Parra and Camille Lopez will set a new club record when play their 90th match together in the starting XV, which breaks a 41-year-old record at Clermont, and their winning percentage is an impressive 72%. Some achievement! Maybe that will drop ...

Re: New Salary Cap Breach?
For goodness sake let it rest ! It’s history! Remember when Covid was the only topic in the news? Now it’s Ukraine, poor souls ,but Covid is still with us. WE have the best team in the Premiership - we have the best coach and coaching staff. We have the best support in the whole of the UK - Let’s ce...

Re: New Salary Cap Breach?
This type of issue was almost inevitable when all of the ‘non rugby’ people flocked to our sport when professionalism made money flow into the game. Not many years ago no player had an agent, investment company or financial adviser. Now they are commonplace. This radical change from Rugby Club to ‘b...

Re: Tigers in the 6N U20’s
Just watched an excellent display from a young Tiger. Ilione was superb both in offence and defence. I am sure that he will feature prominently at Welford Road in the not too distant future. Under 20, but what rugby skills thatyoung man possesses.

Re: French Rugby 2021/2022
Another loss for Toulouse in spite of Pau having two players red carded. I thought Pau were magnificent given the challenges they faced and truly deserved the win. SB really has the right approach at the Tigers . We can lose players to the England squad and still perform well enough to produce resul...

Re: 6 Nations 2022
Scott, you need to look at the wider picture. Italy have always struggled in the 6N, but their U20 team looks very promising, which bodes well for the senior XV in a couple of years. Now what if South Africa appear and Italy get booted out, as is probable, what incentive is there for the younger pl...

Face no longer fits is my guess. Strange, though, that someone on over a million euros a year isn’t even on the bench.ay2oh wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 11:25 amProbably because he is leaving.

Just heard on Gironde radio that Jalibert will be out for 2 weeks so will miss the Tigers’ match. He’s had a few injuries recently and, no doubt, wants to be fit for Les Bleus in the 6 Nations.

Re: Leicester v Bordeaux (H) - 22nd January 2022 - 15:15
A conundrum for master tactician Steve ! A game, which of itself, is less important since we have already qualified but..... The Welford Road faithful expect and rightly so. However, giving game time on the European stage could be invaluable in the later stages of the competition if we are forced in...

Re: French Rugby 2021/2022
I was both surprised and very pleased to watch Wasps beat Toulouse this afternoon. Umaga’s red card gave them a mountain to climb and the fact that they did so was outstanding. Gopperth, again, the master of keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Given Tigers’ win v Connacht, the much anticipated clas...

Re: French Rugby 2021/2022
I watched UBB v Brives yesterday with locals at the Comptoir des Sports in Ste Foy la Grande - they were pretty subdued for most of the game. Bordeaux are not the same force without Jalibert at 10 and there isn’t too much optimism for the trip to Welford Road.
