Re: What is a forward pass?

Perhaps an extreme example would help: You are in a goods van of a train travelling at 60mph. Everything in the van is therefore also going at 60 mph. You pass the ball from the front left corner of the van to a colleague in the rear right. That is obviously a legal pass but the ball, relative to t...

Re: What is a forward pass?

If the receiver catches the ball in front of where it was passed it’s forward. End of. Agree. As kids drummed into us "if it isn't backwards it forward". Flat passes were scourned as potential ball loss. Especially if the scrum was under pressure. Another by-product of the "got to be...

So "I think it is connected to be fair. Exeter (and other teams players) were up in arms on Twitter criticising a referee who was correctly applying the laws"; and "Meanwhile, Genge makes apparently forceful contact with Tom Curry's face in a very upright tackle. Pearce says it's &qu...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

I'd accepted losing Watson to France, but it'd be a blow if he joins a rival. Recognised but if we've mended him and he wants to go with England World Cup and beyond then why move at all. Have we mended him for him to be a more personaly (him) valuable commodity. It is a professional game and if th...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

Ha those days when sarries would have just funded another international player and keep the 3.

What wage bill savings are to be made? Is the called for monitoring of their business actually happening and effecting their financial model?

Sean O'brien (centre) to leave Exeter for Munster at end of season.
Another one - will the last one out switch off the lights.

Re: Tigers v Exeter (H) - Sunday 16th April 2023 - KO 3-00pm

I do agree with their comments about the referees coming out at the end of the weekend and explaining why key decisions were made etc would be a good thing, just to clear things up. I do think this would be a good thing if done in the right way which might be easier said than done. I think the like...

Re: Ellis Genge cited

I do get the impression refs are trying to mitigate down from red to yellow where possible. Low force is one the other is it wasn’t his shoulder that hit his head it was his 💪. That’s ok then because that isn’t going to hurt :smt017 RG, I often question the gladiatorial depiction of the game by bot...

Hot_charlie says may be I've appeared to have missed the point? The point of this thread is and I quote "Ellis Genge cited". The subject name is on the tin. I've missed the point? It might not be his point relating to a totally different thread but it is online with this one. Genge being c...

Re: Ellis Genge cited

:smt017 I didn't know that Gengies citing was connected to Exeter, players calling Refs or the interpretation of the Laws (other than the legitimacy of his own personal case). I must admit whilst recognising his 'issues' in the past and his wish to return to his parish I was surprised he went when h...

Re: Rob Baxter: Exeter boss wants teams to be able to replace red-carded players during games

Whilst Rugbygramps is seeking sanity in a darkened room another angle of extreme stupidity. The reference to a penalty in the course of scoring a try equating to a pen try? Don't know about you guys but on leaving the sheds our aim was always to score trys! That process starts at every kickoff, so d...

Re: Rob Baxter: Exeter boss wants teams to be able to replace red-carded players during games

2 yellows especially for 2 technical offences, won’t result in a hearing. My understanding is 2 yellows in 1 match = 1 match ban. If that is by default or the judgement of a panel I'm not so sure. Accumulation of yellows over a set period can also trigger a ban and as someone has to monitor such ac...

Re: Rob Baxter: Exeter boss wants teams to be able to replace red-carded players during games

:smt011 u That raises the definition of a tackle as opposed to a touch/push. When Ash was 'brought down to ground' was he tackled and was Woodburn therefore "just pushing Ash to touch"? If tackled by Hogg, before any foot in touch due to Woodburns push Ash certainly didn't release the ball...

Re: Rob Baxter: Exeter boss wants teams to be able to replace red-carded players during games

:smt013 My questions on the "stopping a try" element of action is -- "Was Ash's foot already out of play before Woodburn made any 'significant' contact with him?" "Had Hogg legally already nulified Ash's attempt to down the ball?" As a relevant aside if Ash had got the...
