Re: Irish player wages
A good way to look at it is as percentage of turnover. So if i read it correctly Leinster has a turnover of 12 million euro (before competition monies) then it says Munster has a turnover of 17 million euro. I believe Tigers is about 24 million euro. (19/20 million pounds). So very broadly those pro...

I will take it as given you don't think Chris Ashton should be European player of the year....

Re: DOR of the Year?
[Sale] is greater than the sum of its parts, too. Saracens have a playing squad that should be top, and should be challenging for trophies. They also have a squad spirit built on trips away and gimmicky coaching principles. The acid test is to ask yourself if you think McCall would do as well at Sa...

Re: The price of Success...
They really are struggling to create a reasonably sized fan base aren't they. Despite all the free tickets and this offer they still only get 2500 season ticket renewals.... Is that number lower than Wasps ? or Sale ? of Newcastle ? as examples. Judging by their crowds i assume not. The only differ...

Re: The price of Success...
What a fantastic way to reward the loyalty of your core supporters.
He is treating them as shareholders in his business, and paying them a big dividend upon the success of the business. If the business is not successful they don't get paid.
Great to see a sports club treat supporters that way.

Re: Insurance or hypocrisy:Lancaster & Armitages
It will not stop players like the Armitages going, or the Floods, who feel that the cash incentive is a a worthwhile exchange for a fringe place in Englands thoughts. But we are not talking about those players. We are talking about the key internationals. After the world cup, some will take the leap...

Re: 49-6 Respect is due
Do you seriously think we would not have beaten Clermont at home and with a decent ref? Perspective . I would not have paid better than evens for Saffacens away to Clermont with Rolland in charge. I think sarries have had the rub of the green on a lot of occasions this season, beating Clermont like...

Re: 49-6 Respect is due
It is an outstanding result.
Congratulations also to Chris Ashton. Eleven HC tries in a season is incredible. Fully deserves a recall to the England squad.

Re: Insurance or hypocrisy:Lancaster & Armitages
Pretty soon maybe if Trends continue then the best 23 English players will be plying their trade abroad. What's Lanacaster & the RFU going to do then? Sorry Noddy, but this just not the case. There was no trend. The only significant England player to move to France is Johnny Wilkinson. All the ...

Re: Insurance or hypocrisy:Lancaster & Armitages
Seriously Bill ? you think having relegation or not makes any difference to whether Saracens exist in the future or not ? It makes zero difference.

Re: Insurance or hypocrisy:Lancaster & Armitages
Bill / Dai...this is why Edward Griffiths was correct recently (IMVHO), when he made his comments about getting rid of relegation, removing the salary cap, and implicitly suggesting a reduction in the size of the AP. His ideas will protect our clubs from being regionalised, by become stronger and ge...

Re: Insurance or hypocrisy:Lancaster & Armitages
The rule only came in during 2012. So why in the preceding years weren't all Englands best players playing in France ? The money was available in France. They could have gone. Why weren't the Tom Crofts, Ben Youngs, Dan Coles, Toby Floods, and all the other key England internationals playing in Fran...

Re: Insurance or hypocrisy:Lancaster & Armitages
Actually Bill. I am not sure when the rule must have come in. Lancaster' s first six nations was 2012, and Tom Palmer was playing second row in that tournament and was still at Stade Francais. So i think we can conclude that indeed Steffon Armitage's circumstance are exceptional should they choose ...
