Re: Saints away - Saturday 30th November

I'm not sure any game plan would survive a lineout percentage of 66% (Saints conceded a lot of penalties) and territory of <40%. Give away that much possession to a counter-attacking team and you will be well beaten. Add in the inaccurate kicking from the half-backs and it becomes a nightmare. The c...

Re: Borthwick

Ok so what coaches would you suggest then? The trouble with comparing business with a sport is they are two different things when you get down into the thick of it and done very differently. From a business POV we should what sign Jake White? There are similarities and differences - I think the 'tu...

Re: Borthwick

Ackermann's first Head Coach job was the Lions. Cheika's first major solo head coach role was Leinster (As far as i'm aware him and Knox had a fairly equal partnership till Leinster) Robbie Deans first head coach role was the Crusaders and Canterbury. etc Townsend first head coach role was with Gla...

Re: Borthwick

I have a lot of respect for Borthwick and would welcome him as part of the team assuming someone is leaving but I do not consider him qualified to be in absolute charge of our overall coaching set up, he just does not have the experience at Premiership level. He's coached Saracens, Bristol, Japan a...

Re: Will anyone want to buy the club??

.. are you a board member? This just comes across like the juvenile thoughts of our supposed leaders. If it is just bantz then fair play!! I would have thought the only way KP would buy the club is if they could consolidate both clubs to the KP, and presumably the training facilities as well. It is...

Re: Heyneke Meyer

Picking a head coach is always a risk. Cheika turned around Leinster, but got sacked at Stade. Just because a coach is proven doesn't mean they are nailed on to succeed. at the time all coaches have to start as head coach somewhere. Absolutely. There are no certainties. But it is about the circumst...

Re: Will anyone want to buy the club??

If KP bought the club, I think you’d find it wouldn’t be too long before a move to the Crisp Bowl is on the cards, and selling the WRd estate for redevelopment. .. are you a board member? This just comes across like the juvenile thoughts of our supposed leaders. If it is just bantz then fair play!!...

Re: Heyneke Meyer

TBH there are very few coaches who can handle the Premiership (without two international rotating squads). Good point. I am still puzzled by the enthusiasm for Borthwick on this basis. Been good for England as forwards and lineout coach, but has no track record as an overall coach, or in a 'turnaro...

Re: Will anyone want to buy the club??

The 'brand' is still strong (in the sense it is very recognisable), Tigers own the Welford Road site and we have a cohort of international players. So yes, I would have thought a buyer will appear. The on field problems clearly aren't ideal, but I would have thought a serious investor would believe ...

Re: London Irish vs Tigers

Just watched the first half on the PM website, embarrassingly poor in virtually every aspect. Tafua looked a decent unit, solid and aggressive character compared to the rest of the meek looking forwards. Reid is just not doing it at 10, slow, poor decision making and appalling handling. We look Cha...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation

I'm afraid that when any organisation gets into difficulties, everyone suffers - especially the staff. Ask Thomas Cook employees. Indeed. Particularly as their contracts are unlikely to be as robust as the players and directors. That said I doubt Saracens will need to resort to that, they can absor...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation

So in theory how does this work? Is fine and points deduction the end of the matter? Do they now field the same squads or do they have to let players go? Do they "Keep Calm Carry On" and hope their isn't another review? :smt017 :smt017 The Premiership Rugby statement said the sanctions will be susp...

Re: Tigers vs Gloucester

Thacker is on the bench isn't he and Evans isn't playing this weekend. But yes our depth really needs work on. Granted teams like Gloucester, Bristol and Quins are not really affected but the likes of Sarries and Saints are both missing a lot of players yet looking so much better. That is true, but...

Re: Where's Geordie?

Well its been some 3 season since Cockers was hung out to dry. Tigers have had ample time to improve but that time has been squandered by attrocious coaching and player recruitment. At this juncture, some folks think we need more time for us to improve, yet the fact is Saints finished 7th in the 20...

Re: Leicester vs Saracens

sam16111986 - I appreciate you are trying to pick some good bits from the bones, it is after all the modern way to try and put a positive spin on things. However, the aim of the game is to win, not to gain a few points for artistic merit and Tigers simply aren't good enough to do that. Take our int...
