Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat

We did very well considering it wasn't a level playing field (financially). I t was to our great credit that we lost to such an expensively assembled team. My wife says they bought it. Not totally true but their bench was about as powerful as you could buy, yet there was still only one point in it. ...

Re: Montpellier’s Form - Challenge Cup Final chat

I was in Cardiff when we lost our first European final and though it hurt, it really gave us a kick up the :censored: for the following two years which we won, back to back. A very lucky try and a narrowly missed drop-goal. One point difference against a very expensively built team. Sorry to lose bu...

Re: RIP Bleddyn

I am really saddened to learn of Bleddyn's passing. A fine player in his day and a lovely bloke.
Who can forget his well told stories and his efforts to pronounce the difficult names.
"You try and pronounce a few long Welsh names" he often retorted!.

Deepest sympathy to his family,

Re: SAINTS AT HOME 24TH APRIL 2021

I agree with the comments on the ref but should add that two of Stains try's came from forward passes. The whole room went up for them and more . Unfortunately, the ref chose not to see them and neither did his assistants. Amazingly, with all the replays, neither did the commentators. I agree that t...

Re: European Challenge Cup - Tigers vs Connacht Sat 03 Apr 21 at 2000

I was disappointed that McPhillips didn't get the ball on to the ground after that amazing solo run in the last part of the game.
A candidate for the try of the season had he done so. I am not sure why BT Sport have not included it in the highlights. Anyone know where it is available?

Re: European Challenge Cup - Tigers vs Connacht Sat 03 Apr 21 at 2000

What a good game. Afraid to pour a drink in case I missed something. As many have said, that team selection and performance has really shown what a rich vein of young talent we have coming through and a strength in depth we have not enjoyed for years. I was depressed with the departure of Manu and T...

Re: Gloucester away Sat 13th March

A win is a win. We looked better when Lavanini came on. I felt sorry for the backs because they saw so little of the ball.
But as has been said by others, a win is a win.

Re: Has Rugby Got a Refereeing Problem?

Cardiff Tig is right. There should not be two interpretations of the laws, neither should it be down to getting on the right side of the official. I know it is difficult when there are so many potential offences. But as this thread is about refereeing, The history of rugby, the great amateur sport, ...

Re: Has Rugby Got a Refereeing Problem?

Big Dai's take on the subject is very much mine. Back to the basics of the game but with empathy to the players.. So much time setting scrums is ridiculous. We simply engaged with the other side of the scrum and didn't push until the pill came in. The fact that referees do nothing about crooked feed...

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021

I was surprised to learn after the match that Eddie had reported the referee before. Human nature being what it is. it's no surprise he was so anti England. Revenge being a meal best eaten cold. On the odd occasion he was not whistle happy we had a decent game. Irrespective of the result, the whole ...

Saracens - cheaters!

Lockdown blues. I have just watched the last 15 minutes of the Premiership final in 2011 between Tigers and Cheaters which brought back some exciting memories. As a sport I can deal with loseing as you have to have lost to really appreciate winning. We all said "well played" to the opposition suppor...

Re: 6 NATIONS 2021

Not sure what an international coach has got to do to put some credit in the bank. Between 2004 and 2015 England won one 6N (no Grand Slam). Under Jones England have won 3 6Nations including one Grand Slam and a WC Final (defeat). For Saturday (and as he has done since he took over) Wayne Pivac pic...

Re: Tigers vs Brive

I often get fed up with the stupid comments made by commentators but I missed them tonight. Sitting with my chums at the game, there is always someone among us who knows who the players are. This year, with so many new faces and my eyesight not as good as it was, I struggle a bit. It surprised me ho...
