Re: The Rolling Maul Podcast - Special Guests - Latest: George Chuter

Hi all Apologies for lack of updates on here, I’ve regularly failed to stick up some of the guests we’ve had on recently, including Nick Mullins, Charlie Clare and Tom Whiteley. Anyway, as some of you may know, we spoke to Andrea Pinchen this week and the episode is out now. She was very open on a l...

Re: The Rolling Maul Podcast - Special Guests - Latest: George Chuter

Hello all Bit of a double update since I forgot to post last week. First up, we got to speak to Archie Vanes ahead of his Tigers debut. He talked to us about what it's like to learn from the Emperor, the importance of patience at his age and, as is tradition, the worst housemate in what sounds like ...

Re: The Rolling Maul Podcast - Special Guests - Latest: Joe Woodward

Evening gang If I do say so myself, this is a cracker of an episode (by our questionable standards). Not only do we get to preview the Bristol game with the excellent Bears Beyond the Gate podcast (the Bristol pod) to get their take on Tigers and how Bristol are set up this season, but we also have ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

don't think Watson can sign until the World Cup is over due to his RFU deal Another way of looking at it is that, if Watson had signed for a club outside of England, he certainly would have been announced already. And there is no way that someone like him would not have been given a lucrative (even...

Re: The Rolling Maul Podcast - Special Guests - Latest: Austin Healey

Evening all The latest podcast sees poor Joe Woodward lumbered with the obligation of putting up with me asking him questions. Thankfully, he is great value - brilliant maturity for a young man, but he's not afraid to throw his teammate under the bus when revealing his worst housemate. That's a hous...

Re: Tigers vs Ampthill (H) - Prem Rugby Cup - Sunday 24th September 2023 KO 3pm

I have to say, I was a little nervous when looking at the inexperience of the Tigers side. They did excellently to get the win they did. More ball in hand, less kicking. I do wonder, however, if they will be a bit more pragmatic against better sides. That said, I cannot wait for Premiership games a...

Re: The Rolling Maul Podcast - Special Guests

Hi everyone A special treat this week as we’re joined by Tigers legend, the Leicester Lip, Austin Healey . A fantastic chance to chat to him about fighting with Cockers, his memories of his two iconic European final displays and mixed emotions when commentating on Tigers. Hope you enjoy! (Again, cha...

Re: The Rolling Maul Podcast - Special Guests

Hello all, just to let you know a new season of the Rolling Maul podcast is up and running with the usual combination of guests, attempted analysis and a dollop of nonsense. We've been going for a couple of weeks, previewing the new season, but it feels we've started the season proper now as we have...

Re: New Kit Launch

Strange thing is that if the away kit is black you’re looking at at least 4 colour clashes Sarries Exeter Newcastle and Bath did have a lot of black in their kit This is purely about sales. A return to a traditional 90s style green (with a modern embellishment) and a black away kit will be very, ve...

Re: Where are they now? - The turnover during the Borthwick years

Marco Van Staden! A good mix of players I'm gutted to see play for other clubs, some players who are undoubtedly good but who just didn't click for some reason, and....er....some others. Also, was always surprised to see Ollie Ashworth drop off the radar. From recollection he was voted players' play...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe

Bit like the Moroni staying too! LH looking a bit thin on the ground for next season. Cronin has been solid but has suffered with his injury problems. Whitcombe a work in progress still and Van Wyk has never been convincing in the premiership. We desperately need a new LH. One can dream of Slipper....

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 Squad and transfers thread part 2: The Lion, the Wig and the Wardrobe

Strange recently I saw either an LE2 or rolling maul tweet that suggested we had re signed him :smt017 Yeah, what can I say, we got that wrong sadly. First time, but hurts a lot and we’re as surprised as everyone else! Bit like the Moroni staying too! LH looking a bit thin on the ground for next se...

Re: Chris Ashton

I think you can different sorts of “legend” can’t you. Wilkinson, Johnson, Carter, Edwards - All Time Greats David Matthews, Paul Dodge, Tom Youngs - club legends Ashton has the most tries ever in Europe, in the Premiership (first to break a 100), the most in a single season in France. Throw in mult...
