Re: What a mess

Ok, so, if everyone else is missing the point, why should they be in the Prem? Because there pro rugby clubs are not a dime a dozen and rugby isn't football. If the English Prem is going to be a great league to follow and watch it needs well run, solid clubs with a decent set up. And it needs good ...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

Why is it? We are obsessed with relation and promotion in this country. The fact is the game is now a business, if you don't have a market share to go at what are you actually adding. The best benefit of this year (unofficial) ring fencing has been the amount of young talent being allowed game time...

Re: Remaining fixtures

I read the winner of the Challenge Cup will replace the 8th placed team from their own league if they haven’t already qualified. That is what a few on here seem to have suggested which is why I was surprised. For some reason it doesnt appear to apply to the Prem It absolutely does apply to the Prem...

Re: Midweek Game - Wed 09 Sep Away to Wasps

From the BBC: Leicester director of rugby Geordan Murphy: "I've been here a very long time and that's the biggest defeat I've been involved in. It's not pretty and I feel like I've been punched in the face quite a few times. "We have to learn the lessons and we must somehow get back on the horse be...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

No, probably not, which is why future promotion would be decided by other methods than league position. Almost reaching the “franchise” model but having Quins, LI and Trailfinders within a few miles of each other would struggle to “grow” the game and attract new supporters. Hence Ealing’s disappoin...

Re: Teams up v Bath

The way I see it is we had to play the strongest side possible against Exeter meaning we then have to play a “weaker” team against Bath or London Irish. We could have picked the “strong“ team for today and still lost and then picked the “weaker” team against Irish and then lost again. I think we’ve ...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

So you don’t feel that a club should prove it is able to pay the increased wages required by premiership players, or have access to a ground, which is able to safely accommodate the increase in crowd numbers, with adequate toilet facilities and catering outlets etc. Interesting :smt017 If the team ...

Unless special exemption was granted but knowing our government that won’t happen.
To be honest, if the Government gave a rugby team exemption just so they could play a game of rugby, it would say more than them not giving exemption and not in a good way

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

Is it right that Ealing are really only there due to 10s of millions being poured in by a sugar daddy, whilst London Welsh, Leeds, Richmond etc have fallen by the wayside? The promotion I suspect will be based on numerous factors; playing strength, finances, stadium, infrastructure, community engag...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

Ealing's only chance is if Newcastle go under, but does rugby really need another London club in the Prem? No, probably not, which is why future promotion would be decided by other methods than league position. Almost reaching the “franchise” model but having Quins, LI and Trailfinders within a few...

Re: How Many Premiership Clubs Can Survive This?

I'm glad some people are still keen. But watching a rugby game in a big stadium with zero atmosphere is worse than on TV for me. I go to WR for the excitement of the crowd, joking with the away fans and having a few beers with friends. None of which is going to be likely any time soon unfortunately...

Re: How Many Premiership Clubs Can Survive This?

Yeah, I know the clubs have no choice but to try and get as many seats filled as possible, I just wonder how many fans really want to pay for the experience if its nothing like a normal match day experience anytime soon. A game of rugby will be played. That’s all I need. That’s why I pay for a seas...

Re: Exeter Chiefs

No, it's taken 22 years for this majority white, privileged (relatively speaking) society to recognise the issue (myself included!). It's been an issue for many years you (i.e. most of us here) just haven't been aware of it. Comparing the All Blacks to the commercial exploitation of a minority grou...

Re: Exeter Chiefs

I’m sorry TB but you’re just being exaggeratory to sideline the real issue at hand. He has a point. As I’ve said previously, people nowadays are offended by anything. How do you know there aren’t people offended by the name London Irish and if there are people offended by it, should there be a peti...
