Re: Billy don't be a hero ( well perhaps you are)
Given the range of stuff he does, 12T is likely to be in the England squad in the near future (even if only because he can cover loads of positions from the bench) - so I'd imagine it's just a case of the director of rugby trying to the cut the losses when England come calling for our players. There...

Re: Ben Youngs - possible citing
Tig1 - yes, absolutely. I'm amazed at the 'it's always been part of the game' argument. Shouldn't those who care about the game be trying to improve it as a spectacle? Wouldn't the players (and fans) prefer bigger crowds, more atmosphere, more exciting games? Or more and more cynical play such as we...

Re: Ben Youngs - possible citing
It's quite easy in my view, all perpetrators of cynical stuff like that (holding players down, flattening support runners off the ball, tripping, diving, gamesmanship etc) should be red carded. It'll even be worth a few 'false positives' to get it stamped out. The fans haven't come to see cynical ru...

Re: Red Cards, yellow cards etc
I'd agree, except for the spectre of players who know they're going to be replaced soon anyway getting up to allsorts. I suspect a tetchy game would become more or less impossible to ref around the 60 minute mark!

Re: Crisis is English rugby
Woodstock - this comes up quite a bit on this forum, (some would say it's been done to death) - yes, I am sure the coaches in the English league would absolutely love to give their top players a lot more rest. But all games in the Aviva are between the best 15 fit players each club has. If you give ...

Re: If you can't wait for the EPS, here it is
How many times will both squads be unavailable?
Seems we're going to lose our first and second choice scrum halves and fly halves, and two centres if the Saxons are playing, which is a lot of players in one area of the field!
Congrats to all who've made the squads tho!

Wow - topical steroids in skin creams are banned now are they?
So people like me who suffer excema that needs semi-regular applications of steroid cream to keep in under control can forget about professional sport....

Re: TIGERS to sign James Haskell?! YES or NO
Good player, but would cost too much and would be away with England too much, therefore not worth it.

Re: Billy Twelvetrees and jordan Crane - Eng Saxons - Churchill
I know we're now some way off-topic, but I have to agree with the 'horses for courses' comments on here. On other topics it's been noted that Cole and Castro have very different success rates against various different opposition props, and for that reason the coaches really ought to pick the one whi...

Re: Tigers drop out of top 6 seeds for Heineken Cup
Looking at the list of teams qualified, I note the only team from the Magners league not playing is the Newport Gwent Dragons. They finished 7th - and yet every team that finished below them is in, while they're not! I assume Leinster winning the whole thing gave Connacht the place they would have o...

Re: What has the citing officer been smoking?
On the topic of the trainer and Candelon - does anyone know what, if any, is the rule for trainers/physio's on the pitch? I seem to remember watching a physio getting into a bit of a scrap with some players because he'd spotted a clash of heads as a ruck formed in the corner (the ref missed it and p...

Re: Why I hate the grammar police.
I don't mind rubbish grammar, it's rubbish spelling that most infuriates me, because after a while I start doubting my own ability to spell, and I think of myself as a good speller! Prior to the Internet coming along almost everything we ever read was properly proof-read, so spelling mistakes were r...

Re: Tonight's game - LIVE CHAT HERE
Fair play to these Geordie commentators - they're very complimentary of the Tigers.
They get a bit carried away yakking on about something though, and forget to tell you about what's happening on the pitch!
Who scored the first try though?!?!
