Re: Team for Exeter

No one will get replaced inside 50 min unless injured, and I think Ford and Youngs will be split for the 2 home games. IMO fans need to temper their expectations of Reffell , he is obviously going to get some game time but he isn’t yet as good as people are making him out to be. Whilst I agree with...

Re: 'The Ruck' lists The Premierships worst signings....

Yes this is massive revisionism on JPP. I'd encourage anyone to go back and watch those games - he was very good. In fact I ran some player ratings among fans at the time and he was consistently in our top 3 players. I think fair to have a discussion on whether he fitted our game plan and whether he...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Episode 3 The revenge of the Contracts.

Effectively we have lost 1 world class centre and 1 world class wing (Manu and May). The other departures are not top draw and to be honest were not going to get significantly better. Finding affordble replacements is another problem altogether. The biggest issue is that the Covid situation has for...

Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20

Some decent signings for Worcester in terms of Batley & Kvesic. Batley as yet unproved, Kvesic coming to the end of his career and has been released by the best team in the country. Steady uninspiring signings at best Batley looked good for us, certainly better than most 23 year olds, and Kvesic is...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Excellent chat with McGinity (I always thought it was McGinty). More players to come in and they’ll tell us “when the time is right”, which suggests they’re still in talks maybe ? Geordie said they’d be additions this week. Senior Squad will be 37 or 38 players, the new coaches sound great and it c...

Taufua hooked at HT. Any word on injury etc?
Murphy said it was a hamstring injury and we wouldn't know till after the scan, but Taufua seemed in good spirits. Usually these things will mean at least a couple weeks out for a minor tear.

Re: Sale vs Leicester - 21st February 2020

Agree with the above. I think something like:

1 Bateman
2 TPN
3 Cole
4 Lavanini
5 Spencer
6 Liebenberg
7 Reffell
8 Taufua
9 White
10 Hardwick
11 Hughes
12 Eastmond
13 Taute
14 Holmes
15 Veainu

16 Kerr
17 Leatigaga
18 Heyes
19 Wells
20 Lewis
21 Simmons
22 Reid
23 Worth

Re: Tigers vs Bristol - 04th January 2020

Both Lewis and Reffell are very good defensively but not the biggest ball carriers. If Spencer is back in the row with Lavanini then having them both in the backrow should be fine. Otherwise we might have to draft in Thom Smith or the loan signing to give us some more ballast ball in hand as Green ...

Re: Tigers vs Bristol - 04th January 2020

The obvious solution is surely to play Wells at 6. He has had a good couple of games off the bench, carries harder than Lewis, and has much more experience, without us losing much in the lineout. Assuming Guy, SK, Hanro, and Spencer are out I'd go with: 1. Genge 2. TPN (give TY, who I think has been...

Re: Premiership Round 1 - Worcester vs Tigers

Not pretty, but fixable. Missing 15 players didn't help, but there were some really basic mistakes - we weren't looking to play at all in the first half, we didn't use our subs (why have Gigena, Coughlan, and Forsyth on the bench when the starters are shattered?), and we missed our kicks. Viljoen wa...

Re: PRC Round 2 - Tigers vs Exeter

One thing that hasn't got enough attention is how good Tom Youngs was. Made a lot of tackles, flew out of the line, and the lineout was very good. I think the scrum is a bit more worrying than people have suggested - this was a premiership frontrow we put out - but I'm sure the issues will get sorte...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD

Doesn't look like it, haven't done the usual clock image or popcorn with some token '...' We're probably about 9 players short still so you'd think we'd be getting a move on. Agreed. Particularly as we enter the back end of June. It's a bit concerning. I don't think we are 9 players short, more lik...

Re: 2019 World U20s

Agreed on that. I'm completely on board with being stricter about high tackles but this was very harsh. Initial contact was with the shoulder, and the arm barely made contact with the head afterwards - and the defender literally had a knee on the floor. Thought Vunipola's was tough as well as the pl...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 7

Taufua is pretty similar to Guy Thompson. They're both sub-190cm, sub-110kg players who play across the backrow. They both carry well but mostly through power and determination rather than size. They're both energetic players with high workrate. And they both like to stand on the wing and run with t...
