Re: England vs Barbarians
BJ, when else do you suggest the match is scheduled? Any earlier & the league is still going on, meaning MORE players unavailable Any later & England will already be on tour. The alternative is not to schedule the game at all & then the RFU will miss out on lots of revenue, be more likel...

Re: 10'000 tickets
Or maybe Tigers kept some of the tickets allocated to the club back for corporates/sponsors/players' family & friends? Possibly the Quins figure included their full allocation & the Tigers figure was only the tickets left for the regular fans? Both clubs get the same allocation regardles of ...

Re: Barbarians squad
Isa Nacewas entire International career lasted all of 2 minutes, as a sub for Fiji vs Scotland at the 2003 RWC. He later quit Fiji to try to get eligibility for New Zealand but the IRB (rightly IMO) ruled against him because he had previously appeared for Fiji. Therefore I would class his Barbarian ...

Re: All time top try scorer
As has been stated above, your list only covers the Premiership.
Percy Lawrie does indeed still hold the record for the most tries in Tigers colours: 206 tries in all matches.

Re: All time top try scorer
think this table may be a little out of date as it has Geordan down with most appearances at 192. I don't know what he's on now but hasn't Chutes just hit 200 starts? No, this table is up to date as it only refers to Premiership appearances. The Tigers website shows Geordan as having 179 starts &am...

Re: Final w/e Sky coverage
ITV focus on one match on their highlights show as that is a match that was shown live earlier that weekend. Live (Sky or ESPN) games have multiple cameras & therefore multiple angles for analysis, replays etc. The other matches are almost always filmed from a single camera high in the stands. E...

Re: Final w/e Sky coverage
Sky's broadcast package bought from PRL only allows them a certain number of games per season (and therefore per week). The same is true of ESPN's broadcast rights. Sky might love to be allowed to show more games on the final week but they aren't so they are only showing as many as they are permitte...

Well what is the alternative? Leave any missiles to hit their intended target & potentially kill tens of thousands of civillians? I am a local resident living approx 1.5 miles from one of the planned missile locations) and personally don't have a problem with it. I'd rather have the deterrent th...

Re: Leeds Rhinos fancy a cross code game with us
I really can't see how this type of hybrid game could ever work in a practical sense! One hybrid version that could work (and has worked in the past) is where the first 40 mins are played as one code and the second 40 as the other code. This model was used when St Helens played Sale Sharks at Knowse...

Re: Fixtures - 2012/13
BJ you trot out this apologetic nonsense. In a business you have two parties. Both have something which the other wants. To roll over and say thank you is not good business and I don't know why sports clubs do this. TV companies are lazy bullies. It is no better than a mafia situation Correct, the ...

Re: Interesting news re: Sarries salary cap
If it turns out that a team is indeed breaking the cap I am sure that they will only be breaking it by the tens, or at most the low hundreds of thousands of pounds. No club will be breaking the cap by millions of pounds as that would simply be far too obvious to argue away & obvious for EVERYONE...

Re: England considering Tom Youngs for South Africa tour
Hard to say as I believe there was one recent international player who delayed his wedding because of his first ever international selection.
To be honest I can't remember who it was though!
A number of England players have also delayed their honeymoons due to international call-ups.

Re: Interesting news re: Sarries salary cap
If Tigers had attendances like Sarries, had to pay rent on a stadium that wasn't theirs and had the (lack of) conferencing facilities that Sarries have then I wouldn't be surprised if Tigers made an annual loss of around £6.4m too! As it is, despite the profitable Twickenham Hospitality are (Tigers ...

Re: Rob Hawkins last game in a Tigers Shirt?
I don't think it is as bad as it has been interpreted. I think it was supposed to sound more along the lines of "He was hoping to prove he deserved a new contract thanks to his performances over the remainder of the season...but now he has been robbed of that opportunity." I expect him to ...

Re: LV Cup prize money
I don't think there is much (if indeed any) prizemoney for winning the LV Cup. The bulk of the money (ie TV & sponsor revenue) is distributed evenly across all participating teams. Therefore while we may have "lost out" this year we have undoubtedly gained in other years when we have b...
