Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Excellent though not unexpected news re Perese. On Beets personally I would be surprised if we spent cap money on another back rower. If the coaches feel he has the ability then sometimes youth needs to be given its head as Baxter has proved at Exeter. Slight aside a poster asked for explanations o...

Re: Tigers v Gloucester - Premiership Cup Final - Friday 15th March 2024 - KO:7-45pm

Oh dear - yet more rants about the ref. Perhaps all professional players should be equired to pass a test on the laws of rugby? ( a bit like a theory exam before a driving test). There are plenty ofexamples of players and ex-players not knowing the laws (eg Haskell/England vs Italy a few years ago w...

Re: French rugby 2023/24

I guess that the Welsh players didn’t anticipate THAT pass so made the chances of an interception less likely than for a normal floated pass?

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

A similar situation arose 25 years ago, at Wembley. It finished Wales 32-31 England but England were six points up near the end of the match and had the opportunity to kick a fairly straightforward penalty to make it "two scores". They opted for the lineout, Wales turned it over and Gibbs ...

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

The irony is that Freddie would probably have taken that chance too as he's scored several similar tries for England. Supposedly Furby's point of difference is his play making, not his finishing. Did he make any plays vs Scotland?

Re: International Eligibility

I've often said that Princess Anne is the ideal president for the SRU as she has/had one Scottish grandparent.

Re: Wasps revival???

They should be renamed the Hover Flies - a smaller, less irritating version of the original, that may even do some good.

How’s about trying to lure Genge back with the carrot of playing number eight (again)?

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

Gobsmacked after Freddie's performance vs Wales. Mind you, Furbank did crunch Quin's giant 12 in a recent club match so may have beefed up and toughened up relative to his first cap vs France.

How about killing two birds with one stone? Merge Wasps and Ealing and call it Weeping?

Re: English RFU ditches plan to sell Twickenham

All the talk of growing the game and the simplest way to do that is to play the top level matches around the country. Like France are doing this year, I have enjoyed going to the cabbage patch in the distant past, but wouldn't go now, Murrayfield is a quite pleasant place to visit for a game, even ...

Re: Trailfinders a sad indictment of rugby

The RFU vs PRL feels like a war of attrition. Neither will to give an inch but as we're seeing elsewhere, the side with the most resources will usually win out in the end. The RFU has already prised the door open and stuck its toe in with first of the hybrid contracts. Cue the analogies containing t...

Re: Trailfinders a sad indictment of rugby

Lots of the old arguments about issues such as 10-team Premiership, cartels, closed shop, 57 old faerts at the RFU etc. The fact remains that last weekend, Ealing could barely half-fill their ground. They had an opportunity to prove they had a potential fan base as there was no competition from othe...

Re: Trailfinders a sad indictment of rugby

What Ealing is doing, is to prove (yet again) that there is no appetite for a third top flight rugby club in the London area. The population of London is something like eight million so similar to the entire island of Ireland, yet is can only sustain Quins and Sarries. Wasps were based in West Londo...
