Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE VI: The Return of the Burns

The backrow in the development squad is looking a bit stacked at the moment, but it is a high attrition position and next season we'll have the A league and Prem Cup almost certainly back. Thom Smith was captaining the club just 8 or so months ago and has only really not featured due to the lack of ...

Re: American Investors for Tigers?

Nothing story based on that article so far. Most likely heard the Diamonds talking to americans about the prem and link that with the club being on sale a couple years ago. Not saying it's completely made up but base on that article nothing to me suggest anything major currently. That being said I ...

Re: American Investors for Tigers?

Regarding some of the comments here: 1) We've already de-facto ring-fenced the league, and the structure of permanent members already exists financially in the Premiership thanks to P Share structure. 2) Tom Scott has not been shy in extracting interest on the loans he gave us. With the structure of...

Re: May 17th Fans back in Stadiums....possibly?

We never found out who that was, but I think its fair to say the speculation that it was Worcester seems stronger now.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE VI: The Return of the Burns

I think that squad churn is going to be the new norm for all teams moving forwards, the days of 1 club men are mostly gone now and the growing amount of competitive leagues around the world (MLR, Top League etc) mean that players have even more options of where to play going forwards I think the bi...

Re: England to Play USA & Canada in July

Really sad that we're pulling the tour to USA. This is their only real chance to host England, who would be a massive commercial game for them. Hard for tier 2 to close the gap when we never travel to play them and let them ear money. July 4th test in somewhere like Houston where USA have a good rec...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE VI: The Return of the Burns

Typically we use between 45 and 55 players a season, on one occasion when we just blew off the Prem Cup and loaned in loads of players we got to 63 players. No one ever deliberately hires people they don't intend to use. The distinction between senior and development seems purely semantic to me. The...

Re: 2020/21 Academy squad

England posted a video on twitter from their recent U-18 training camp.

Could recognise Lewis Chessum, Tim Hoyt and Simon Koroiyadi in the video, no doubt there were others.

Re: Tigers vs Falcons - 28th March 2021 at 15:00

The pundits going on about Weise clearing out Welsh is sticking in my throat as well. We have got to stop ruling rugby by whether a player gets injured. His entry point is illegal but the action is not- the only reason its spoken of is because he gets injured and that happens in rugby. He wrapped a...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE V: Borthwick Strikes Back

I have zero trust in Fissler with Tigers rumours now. I feel that the people who were his connects are gone and now he has no one in the camp. Agreed, he did get the Van Staden rumour right early on though There are always two sides to player rumours, the Argentinean and South African web sites/pre...

Re: Premiership Rugby Cup - This Season

The rugby paper reported it was happening recently. I would be surprised if it was played with no crowds, but they are all getting tested anyway and if BT Sport is happy to broadcast the games and/or allow others to be streamed by the clubs then we might as well play it I think. The mid week element...

Re: Salaries to be investigated by HMRC

Surely all salaries and payments submittied for inclusion in the salary cap would be before tax any way, so wouldn't have any bearing on that? The salary cap is effectively the gross cost to the club. So it includes pension payments and employers national insurance payments. While called the salary...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE V: Borthwick Strikes Back

Surely the club must know how the RFU/PRL are going to treat the previously "domestic" Kolpak players then? Otherwise the 2 overseas player limit is going to make most of these players redundant on match day? And are we going to average 15 English qualified players to get the bonus payments (if the...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE V: Borthwick Strikes Back

With these guys going out on loan, and speculation that further may join them, the journalists at the Rugby Paper (Jon Newcombe) still says that the Premiership Cup is returning midweek from April. Going to have to have some players to play in that!

Re: 2020/21 Academy squad

U-18s as part of an elite performance group have been exempted from the restrictions on sport, so at least I'd assume these guys have been training and playing games within that pretty regularly? I still sort of hope they can play an U-18s comp this summer, even just a mini one of 3 or 4 games to gi...
