Re: Exeter Chiefs

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense, The University of Michigan has done a study which finds 70% of native Americans find the use of mascots in headdresses offensive and 65% the tomahawk chop offensive, Link: https://record.umich.edu/articles/study-opposition-high-to-native-american-mascots-name...

Re: Exeter Chiefs

H's dad I don't understand your position, are you denying the right of the many native american associations who vehemently dislike the branding to object? Or are you saying that you do not care about people feeling marginalised by their culture being mocked for profit? Just for everybody's informa...

Re: Exeter Chiefs

Thanks for that, in that case action should be taken immediately by Exeter, to remove any Native American imagery associated with the club, and fans should be denied entry, if they’re ever allowed in again, if they are wearing Native American costume. No problem. Like you I initially didn't underst...

Re: Exeter Chiefs

The fact is that no one here is a Native American (yes, I know I'm making an assumption and I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong!). Therefore, the fact that you (in general, not any specific user) aren't offended by the Chief's cultural appropriation is pretty irrelevant. Blaming political correc...

On the theme of rugby clubs getting their names, where does Leicester Tigers come from?
Its links to the Leicestershire Regiment which served in India...
That is a coincidence that perhaps cemented its use. It started being used for us when we played in brown and yellow stripes.

Re: Players asked to take pay cuts!

Andrea Pinchen May have kept some people happy with her interview, the legal representatives of Manu amongst them. By naming the players who had not accepted the revised remuneration packages, she may have breached confidentiality clauses. This could be very expensive for the club who may be ordere...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

GM has said on many occasions that we will and are spending up to the cap. Andrea has also confirmed that as well so I don't really understand what else the club can do - the cap has reduced and so there are only 2 choices - player's wages drop or we have fewer players. It seems that the management...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part 2

If Enever is the only addition at lock, on the face of it it’s a little underwhelming, however you’d assume Borthwick should be a good judge of what we require in a second row and we perhaps need to see him in actions first. If there is a follow up addition in the second row, then we suddenly look ...

Worth noting the players have returned to training in Kukri gear.

Suggests contract will have to run to June 30th with no early movement?

Re: Transfers and Rumours Non-Tigers 2019-20

It is also very tricky for clubs to be signing new players while forcing pay cuts on current ones. Unless the player is a world class first team addition or a needs must front rower I think many players may prefer to see existing agreements honoured before new players signed up. That said with the w...

Re: Sale Return 'Home'

The proposed site 1.5 miles from the old Heywood Road ground. It is about equal distance probably from Sale town centre than the old ground. It is very close to the Dane Road Metro link station. Depending upon how much/if any of the woodland is involved in the site, the site is between 10 and 12 hec...

Re: Tigers' Players in the Media

If I'm not mistaken, PRL takes a huge cut of all the money going into the premiership with a very bloated organization. There are a lot of places that money can be saved before a blanket 25% cut is necessary, and will hit the lower earners the hardest. C.£2.3m in wages from £75.5m revenue. plus sim...

Re: Ticket Refunds

Do the the major shareholders invest a lot of money in the club? Genuine question. They may not take money out in wages or dividends, but they were very keen to make a tidy profit by selling the club for a lot more than they paid for it. It's also worth noting that, as Mark62 points out, they are i...
