Re: England's Worst 15

What a :censored: article and conversation. Yep, I'm loathe to comment as I don't agree with the whole idea of the article but anyone who thinks Deacon, Crompton, Perry or Hazell were bad players is simply an idiot. Given that that whole team played for England between 2005 and about 2011 it sugges...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

Regarding lock unless Lavanini's injury has been significantly understated I don't see the need for "injury cover", i.e. would leave when he regains fitness. I do however think that another first choice level lock was a need anyway and that need has now increased. That would push us to 5 first team ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

With Heyes clearly on England's radar we should probably be looking at strengthening loosehead so that Leatigaga is not required to switch over so often for cover. Gigena is also mentioned in dispatches from the Argentine coaches so it is only a matter of time before they call him up I think. Genge,...

Re: Still stuck in the mud! - Development updates

I went into the shop today (swapping an optimistically sized purchase), they are currently building the bridge from the hotel into the stadium itself so yes I'd guess the steel work is all done now.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

Ref Heyes its important to remember who he is playing with. In his 8 league starts they've all been with the back up pack/in the international window. His other starts are pretty similar. I'd like to see him get 45 mins with the main pack to get a bit more of a feel for his level. Agree on Olowofela...

Re: Fans supporting the club.

I really don't think the club should be soliciting more donations. Obviously if an individual wants to do it that's their prerogative. The board have different options. We were told that the board turned down a proposal for the players to get shares in the club in exchange for reducing their salarie...

Re: Clubs on the brink

Also first glance at finances in Coronavirus times. Revenue fell from £21,699k to £17,129k, a fall of £4.5m or 21%. That was to June 30th, or 3 months ... Their budgeted income for 20/21 financial year is £11.4m or a 50% drop from pre-Covid times. Then back to normal with strong growth from 21/22.

Re: Clubs on the brink

Exeter announce a bond plan https://www.exeterchiefs.co.uk/news/exeter-chiefs-2027-bond Worth remembering this replaces their existing bond, this bond is offering a 7 year term at 5.5%. Can't see what the old one was paying off a quick google. I think that was for £7m with Rowe holding around £2m a...

Regarding props you need 8 you are ready to use. Why 8? Who knows but looking back over the last 7 or so seasons that's how many we use, apart from when we went silly and signed up 10, then felt duty bound to use them all. That was with Cole as a regular international, plus various other at differen...

Re: The Nadolos

I think its as simple as being raised in Australia he prefers an Australian pronunciation over the traditional Fijian one. You often get similar with German or Afrikaans names in English/American. Quite a lot of second generation people will pronounce "Kruger" as "Crew-Ger", whereas I think an Afrik...

Neil Fissler (Rugby Paper 16/8) reports that Eastmond has rejected short term deals at both Harlequins and London Irish , and due to a young family has no interest in playing abroad. He is supposedly seriously considering legal action against Leicester. Taking into account the situation , a fruitles...

Re: New Salary Cap Investigation

Sale only have 44 players (including academy/development). Only 34 listed on the main squad. That's a huge amount of cash to go around. Exeter on the other hand have 71 players listed on their site and have some tremendous depth in many key positions. Bristol have some big names but at 9&10 only hav...

Re: Team for Exeter

No one will get replaced inside 50 min unless injured, and I think Ford and Youngs will be split for the 2 home games. IMO fans need to temper their expectations of Reffell , he is obviously going to get some game time but he isn’t yet as good as people are making him out to be. Whilst I agree with...

I think Football will do a lot of the hard yards re sport & others will piggy back it. But if you look at it with a realistic eye, how is any Sportsman better for the UK then someone wanting & willing to come to the UK to work in the NHS or care sector? Well they pay a lot more tax for a start. A p...

Ah okay. I mean that's also not correct as that is also copyrighted at the IPO, funny that it seems to be the default excuse that's gained traction even though it doesn't really make sense and is easily disprovable! I guess because it neatly moves it into "one of those things which can't be helped",...
