Re: Borthwick

I've steered clear of commenting on the Borthwick appointment until it happened. Now it's been confirmed my thoughts are as follows: You don't last seven years with fast Eddie unless you have talent and know what hard work looks like. Borthwick had a long time to pull out of this deal. It's been mu...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2

Buw JM's move to Sarries seems to be off he is now rumoured to be returning to Glaws - https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/rugby-rumours-transfer-news-leicester-3744111 Would be an interesting move for him to return to Glaws, one of the few clubs he would have to fight for a starti...

Re: Tigers vs Cardiff - 12th January 2020

White needs to stop taking his lead from Ben Youngs of Tigers and focus more on the one that plays for England. The ref will penalise the opposition irrespective of the arm waving of the scrum half. At times in the second half he got the ball out quickly and the impact was there for all to see. If ...

Re: Johnny May

A lot of posts on this thread seem to be concentrating on, and suggesting, replacements for Johnny May. That's what these threads are for, and everybody has their own opinions as to an ideal replacement, and those opinions are quite divers. Building a winning squad isn't just about buying new player...

Re: Tigers vs Bristol - 04th January 2020

Some people are never happy unless they are negative Negative/positive, you can describe me however you see it. I prefer "balanced". I can see the positives: -Performances and results have improved (very big positive). -Bristol and Irish are in freefall and Worcester have been thumped in 2 of their...

Re: Fifteen Games To Go

This weekend, we've scored one point more than Sarries. A positive result. Do you think we are battling relegation with Sarries? It would be a lovely thought that they were relegated but come the middle of Feb they will likely have overhauled us. They got a bonus point from an away match at Exeter....

Re: Borthwick

At the moment, relegation is only just around the corner, so players like Genge, Ford, May and Tuilagi must already have, in the back of their minds, an idea where they are want to be in the next 4 - 6 months. They are all good enough to play in any premiership side, and will not want to be languis...

Re: Fifteen Games To Go

Don't write off Dai Young, he's been round the block, and Tigers have basically got to win two more games than the exiles just to draw level with them, and three more than Bath and Worcester to get in front of them. There's going to be no "gimme's", and points are going to be hard to come by. As the...

Re: Trouble at mill - May to go?

Could well be the start of a slippery slope. Players like May, Genge, Ford and Manu, don't get to their level without ambition. They want to achieve, as well as gain a secure financial future. Taking into account the way Tigers fortunes have changed over the past couple of seasons, and in the eyes o...

Re: Murphy coaches and relegation

The only games we’ve played well in for the last two seasons is when we have run the ball back at teams. What is there to lose now? We showed against Gloucester that when we build phases we can beat teams. TV, also against Gloucester, showed a clever mix of very good kick chase and running back. Co...

Re: Saracens Cap Investigation

Personally I believe this issue is more than just Saracens, fines and point deductions. This is about morality, ethics and integrity across the whole sport in this Country. I also suspect other clubs to be implicated - perhaps not as overtly or crudely as Saracens, but nevertheless guilty of some t...

The answer to the title of the thread, based on today’s performance, is “No!”.
I'll second that. Very early days, but I liked what I saw.

Re: Cipriani

Do you think Cipriani would have performed as well as Ford has this season if you swapped the teams they were playing in? And would Ford have got player of the season if he was in the Gloucester team? No to the first, and definitely yes to the second. Cipriani is a gifted player. He has class, and ...
