We need a skipper who's on side with the ref at all times which puts Coley out of the picture! Liebenberg will be excellent and we have a great choice of existing vc's and also the new ones coming in.

Re: OTY retires
Legend is an overused term today, but Tom Youngs deserves that accolade and more. For those who witnessed his journey from Centre to International class Hooker in seemingly the blink of an eye you will concede that the man was simply nothing short of a force of nature carrying himself and those aro...

Re: Gibson-Park
A sensible and logical decision, Marmion dropped height at last second while G-P targeted the ball/chest with a passive tackle. Hate to see a red card for that mitigation. I hope the disciplinary committee see sense for Porter as he wasn't making a tackle but was (successfully) cutting out the pass,...

Palm first 100% and them forearm slides across the face after. And are we now saying officials and citing panels get things 100% right now are we? 😂🤦 In this case yes. The front angle images looks exactly as you say, then you see Jared's other post of the side angle: https://twitter.com/jaredwright...

You wonder if we have stopped learning new moves as Ford is off next season. There are a few comparisons of some of the more wooden headed Cockers tactics at times. Its taken me a while to warm to Burns but in the last couple of games he varied the attack, some short kicks which he followed up and ...

Re: Super Rugby Law Changes
Personally i've never met anyone against the 50:22 before or after it became a welcome law change. It was trialled because it made sense. This red card trial simply doesn't make sense because the issue is not to just punish but also be a deterrent, so the more we soften the laws the less chance play...

Re: Super Rugby Law Changes
With the SH red card law in place, Italy would still have had a slim chance against Ireland last weekend for example, rather than no chance after 20 mins as was the case! ...or they could tackle low and have more than a slim chance. Players/coaches need top stop blaming the system and instead chang...

How about a rainbow pack of cards? For example, blue for bad language, indigo for squint feeds/throws, green for playing in the USA, viole(n)t for fighting? A few years back at the Ibiza 7's, a pink card was shown when two players got into hanbags, they then had to kiss before resuming play. No han...

Re: Chris Ashton
Ashton has started 10 games in the past 2 seasons so how match fit is he? his difficulty gelling within his past two clubs means how much of a team player is he these days? Ashtons glory days are well and truly over, but would be great if he knuckled down and fitted in to show glimpses of his past g...

Re: CONNACHT (A) - Saturday 15th January 2022 - 3-15pm
Trouble is, if it's the same player they end up before the "beak" before too long & you get a "rep" individually (Wiesse & big Tomas before him) & as a team. We still seem to give away some dull penalties though. Perhaps if we stopped kicking the ball so much we woul...

Re: CONNACHT (A) - Saturday 15th January 2022 - 3-15pm
Conceding a penalty in your 22 almost certainly gives the opposition 3pts. If it's a close game then you're defending under enormous pressure with 14 and likely the opposition will score again. Can't see the logic in conceding penalties in your 22 myself unless you are winning with a big enough marg...

Re: Idea on penalties and sanctions
I don't see the relevance of position on the field or if one of the penalties was less clear or obvious than another. It's a sanction as a result of cumulative penalties. Just like Weise got a ban for x number of yellows in a certain time frame. Take Currys first penalty, great tackle at the kick o...

Re: Idea on penalties and sanctions
Barnes just carded Curry because of "4 straight penalties" - where is that in the laws? Law 9.10: When different players of the same team repeatedly commit the same offence, the referee gives a general caution to the team and if they then repeat the offence, the referee temporarily suspen...

Re: Idea on penalties and sanctions
Some good ideas there Gethin Exile but also some misguided IMO - Unfortunately some referees still treat their assistants like touch judges and decide to play on when advised of possible offences. Law 6.5.a: The referee is the sole judge of fact and of law during a match. Refs do confer with AR's a...

Re: Sale (H) 23rd October 2021 - 3pm
Dickson was generally poor and is still a sub standard premiership referee. The Montoya try was a no arm tackle by Wood, tackle not completed so try should of stood and Wood a YC. The head on head later in the game which he ignored despite No13 holding his own head afterwards and looked dazed (with ...
