Re: Ayerza
One to debate: Marcos Ayerza has been the (joint) bedrock of our front row for quite a few years and is our undisuptued first choice loosehead. But, we will almost certainly be losing him for 8-9 weeks at the start of each season for the Four Nations. With the Six Nations also taking Cole and Castr...

Re: Dan Cole
Does anybody have any reliable information on whether there is any mileage in this rumour, or not? I can understand the desire to be in the starting line up each week and get more minutes per season, but at the same time we are the biggest club in the country and if you look at the strong Top 14 sid...

Allen is currently a better 12 than Twelvetrees Allen has reached his optimum level Twelvetrees has yet to reach his optimum level Twelvetrees has the potential to be a better 12 than Allen Cockerill keeps his job if he wins games Cockerill loses his job if he loses games ergo For Cockerill to keep ...

Re: Back row
Our combinations in the back row are strong and varied and we probably have more strength in depth than any of our (domestic) rivals. The one element we are short of is probably physicality and experience at 7. Newby is having a fantastic season as a converted 7 and is undisputed first choice; Woods...

Re: And that's what happens when you don't give players a go
Having watched the game I can't say that 12T looked nervous before the kick or was nervous in his execution of it. He missed, which sometimes kickers do, with their first kick of the day (which unfortunately for us was the last kick of the day). Staunton is to Leicester what Myler is to Northampton:...

The Scrum - not so dominant anymore?
I'll start this post by saying I have never played in the front row and, though an avid fan of rugby, can seldom understand why one particular pack is able to get the upper hand at scrum time and 10mins later the fortunes are reversed. But... Is it just me or have Tigers been a lot less dominant in ...

Re: Grindal and Staunton
smalldell is absolutely right: good managers (and I'm talking generically here, not just rugby), view the world in terms of risk and have to make their decisions accordingly. Leicester Tigers are expected to win the AP every year and get to the knock-out stages of the HC, otherwise the season is de...

Re: atmosphere against wasps......
From watching on TV (which isn't the same, admittedly), it seemed very quiet and there were only a couple of occassions when the crowd got going.
It was a wet, cold night and I got the impression that the team and the crowd were confident enough of a victory that neither got too excited about it.

Re: Referee for Tigers vs Wasps?
It is an immensley difficult job to referee the breakdown in today's climate of ever-changing interpretations and yesterday's referee did not fare well. I don't think I've ever seen a player commit so many unpunished offences at the breakdown as Serge Betsen at Welford Road. All credit to him, as th...

Re: MATTHEW TAIT
I think Matthew Tait will work out to be a very good signing. We're losing an outside centre who has played in a World Cup Final but gaining another who has played in a World Cup Final (arguably with his best years ahead of him). He adds even more pace and creativity to the back line. Slater's perfo...

Re: Saints in decline?
I don't see Saints as being in decline. Every team has a loss of form over the season and they are having to now come to terms with the fact that 4 x of their starting 15 are also nailed on in England's starting 15. They have good quality replacements and it's testament to their early season form th...

Re: How to treat a young star - Richard Cockerill
I do have some sympathy with the sentiment of stripy tiger's post; one of the most exciting things in sport is seeing young talent blossom and one of the most frustrating is seeing it held back. However, without the full picture it is difficult to understand exactly how Billy's development is being ...

Re: Twelvetrees not the finished article
It is interesting that no-one commented on an article about 12T not being the finished article before the Perpignan game. All the talk beforehand was of Cockerill's short-sightedness at putting Staunton on the bench, rather than 12T. Hindsight is a wonderful thing... but then would Staunton have per...
