Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

Looking at the online Tigers v Bath programmme on page 48 I notice that Jan McGinity is still listed as our Head of Elite Performance Recruitment, where as I'am delighted if he is still at Tigers but I read that he had unfortunately left the club.. could some one please advise? :smt017 I suspect no...

Re: Future captaincy

It’ll be Ford. Yes, he’s away a lot, but then so was Johnno etc in their prime. He appears to be the natural, big game leader in the group.

It’ll just be someone else when he isn’t available. Borthwick is ensuring - just like Eddie - he has plenty of “leaders” in his squad.

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2020-21

Worcester have announced the signing Duhan van der Merwe, another blow to the Scottish rugby clubs but for me a panicky statement signing from Warriors that could backfire on them. I wonder if there’s big of influence from McGinity; a few players he brought to Scotland beginning to leave for the Pr...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

Ealing without a doubt , are considered 'financially viable ' , by Premiership Rugby.Apparently , (Rugby Paper) intentions to be revealed on Ringfencing in January 2021. Well of their two regular supporters, one is very rich! :smt001 I just hope they can get more than 1000 fans for any game that is...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

How many of the "14" are practical long going concerns is another matter, being propped up by a sugar daddy is not the way forward. Unfortunately there isn’t really an alternative. it is currently understood that only Ealing have a chance of meeting this criteria outside of the 13 clubs. And they a...

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

I think this is the ideal situation but unfortunately I don’t think there’s enough money in the game to sustain two leagues. EXACTLY! This is what people refuse to acknowledge. Instead we are stuck (currently) where we financially penalise on of the (just about financially viable) teams hugely in t...

built on a brutal defence that forced mistakes.
Isn't that the defence coaches job? I'd say Mike Ford has found his perfect niche.
Which, given his original coaching CV (before he went to Bath) should be no surprise! :smt003

Re: Ringfencing almost upon us ?

ringfencing will be announced in January - initially 13 teams with options for others to apply should they meet the criteria..... Hopefully quickly up to 14 and maybe later 16. It’ll be very interesting to see how the conference system works; if the Prem does grow over 5 years or so bigger than 14,...

Re: Challenge Cup

And, by the time the Challenge Cup resumes, we may already have a ring fenced Prem. Depending on how the next three games go, the CC could then easily become the priority.

Re: Bayonne - next opponents

Interesting pod from Adam and Chris last night. I’m with Chris; I’m really not sure the strength of side we’ll see on Saturday. He’s got two full squads of players who have played matches last weekend, and part of me wondered if the Sarries friendly was to give a few of the “second line” players som...

Re: Autumn Nations Cup

France were over-egged. Even their try came from a very crooked lineout. Had Farrell’s kicking boots been working England would have been in control. As it was England were patient, put pressure on and drew penalties. It should have been finished in normal time, but these things happen. In extra tim...

Let us not forget those that served our Country down there April to June 1982 and since! :smt023
Got that T-shirt. :smt001
However the game of Rugby has brought them some respect across the world.
Yep. It’s one of the few good news stories in a wider context.

Not sure what is more disturbing, the speed of the UAR's U-turn or the reaction of some of these forum members? Both. UAR quick to brush it all under the carpet when the finger was pointed in the direction of their culture. A nice, diverse, tolerant culture that was bringing through their youth pla...
