Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

Seeing the bigger picture and applying a bit of considered thought produces the conclusion that having scored try no 3, the pursuit of no 4 became the objective, and along with that came the increasing risk of losing the game. In the end, that turned into more of a last-ditch gamble, like the "...

Re: Craze for alternative club names

Sale's stadium is in Eccles, isn't it? So shouldn't the team now be named after the pastry-encased bakery confections known as Eccles Cakes?

There was a similar situation, I'm pretty sure it was this season, when Ben Youngs shaped to box-kick to a loud chorus of "don't kick it" - and he did, and on that occasion they just got away with it.

Re: Rugby Doppelgangers

Good idea to have something light-hearted (at least at the outset).

How about Dan Cole and Sergeant Goodfellow of Father Brown?

And Harry Simmons and Garry Ringrose could probably swap teams without it being noticed?

Re: Tigers v Saints (A) - Premiership - Saturday 20th April 2024 - KO: 15-05

The "Tigers DNA" thing has always sounded like a creation of the marketing department. The hiring of Borthwick worked because the playing side of the club had degenerated to such an extent that it needed a period of "going back to basics" and so this and the marketing side were a...

Re: Tigers v Saints (A) - Premiership - Saturday 20th April 2024 - KO: 15-05

I don't agree that Tigers were on a level footing until the red card. The ground was beginning to crumble away from very early in the second half. Kata must take a lot of the blame, as in addition to the stupidity of the red card, his reckless flying up out the the line early in the second half gave...

How good and close is the working relationship between Pollard and McKellar?
A TV commentator/analyst (don't recall which) recently made what I thought was a key observation - how crucial this relationship is to club performance.

Re: Tigers v Newcastle (A) - Premiership - Friday 29th March 2024 - KO: 19-45

There is no doubt that DMK, so far, is a conservative approach coach. Perhaps this is a reflection of what he has inherited, and the overall ingrained heritage of the club which has clearly been a strong factor in both his appointment and how the team is playing, this season. But there must now be s...

Re: Tigers vs Gloucester (H) - Premiership - Friday 22nd March 2024 - KO:19.45

Would be no surprise if Tigers do not win another game this season, based on the two defeats to Gloucester. There could well have been a virus which has hit the squad, but there also seems to be some lack of cohesion, which may grow rather than reduce.

Re: Tigers v Leinster (A) - Champion Cup - Qtr Final - 07th April 2023 - KO 8:00pm

Seventeen of tomorrows Leinster team came through the Leinster schools/club system. One was poached from Connacht. One is from Ulster but studying in Dublin. Two Kiwis, one Samoan and a Springbok. Is Ringrose the one poached from Connacht? If so, isn't he from Athlone in Westmeath (Leinster side of...

Almost 26,000 there yesterday? Accept there was a sizeable contingent from Northampton who probably could hardly believe their good fortune. But how many non-frequent purchasers of a ticket for that game, of a Leicester persuasion, will be buying again anytime soon? Leicester cannot afford to go bac...
