Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Just feel that even if Hatherall / Liebenberg are at 8 you’re going to want Chessum at 6 to beef out the pack with another carrying option. Beets might be a great signing - but would’ve rather he take up the slot of say Rogerson / Cracknell and we’d actually tried to replace Wiese with an internatio...

Can’t say that isn’t slightly disappointing.

What’s happened to the money that was earmarked to Wiese for next season.

I’m a fan of Hatherell but it would be a big step up to be in the team starting at 8 week in week out.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Surely if N.Smith signs then we don’t need any more props. 1. Smith, Cronin, Whitcombe 3. Cole, Hurd, Heyes Then we’ve still got Richardson and Hoyt. If Eloff comes in too then maybe McKellar doesn’t rate Whitcombe as much as some posters on here. Speaking of Sale type players, Hatherell can cover 4...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Actually disagree about TH and our locks, mainly down to two Scots. Hurd I think is massively underrated and for me is better in the scrum that Heyes. Also think he’s got the potential to be our first choice TH in the future and needs minutes on the pitch. Agree with comments about Wells. But Hender...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

Nicky Smith for me is an upgrade on Cronin / Van Wyk when it comes to scrum time. We’re a set piece team but with Genge leaving didn’t have that quality at LH to really attack scrums. Smith gives us that and you won’t want to be scrummaging against Smith / Montoya / Cole. I do think Cronin is better...

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

Agree about the subs, coaches need to trust what they’re seeing on the pitch rather than the GPS data and pre-set subs. Think Underhill being back has been massive. Doesn’t seem to get many plaudits this tournament and isn’t as flashy as Earl at 8. But he’s quietly gone about smashing people and get...

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

Think England will be happy with the tournament overall. Look a much better team to the one that started and more settled Over the summer we really need to try and unearth the next generation of props. Baxter, Heyes, Opoku-Fordjour on the bench against Japan. Hopefully move on from Daly. IFW will be...

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

I said 3/5 was a success but got to be kicking ourselves over that one. How did we manage to not get that win over the line, our own worst enemy.

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

How is that not rolling away from Peneaud there?

Then gives one for Chessum not rolling away. You have to be fair and consistent.

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

Good try to go in at half time.

Underhill has been massive, smashing people all over the place.

I know Furbank is off because of injury. But away from home with this crowd think it was the wrong call. Need a rock at the back.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

N. Smith is great at scrum time. So looks like we’ll be making 5 signings at most.

Prop - Smith
Prop - Eloff
Backrower - ???
Centre - Perese
Centre - ???

Rumoured that Scott is basically going and probably Porter. Imagine one of Rogerson and Cracknell might be leaving too.

Think after yesterday we need to put out the strongest team possible.

Cronin Montoya (c) Heyes
Wells Martin
Chessum Wiese Reffell
Youngs Pollard
Kata Kelly
OHC Steward Bassett

FTT FVW Cole Hatherell Liebenberg Whiteley Shilcock Cokansaiga

Re: Tigers v Gloucester - Premiership Cup Final - Friday 15th March 2024 - KO:7-45pm

I’m actually in disbelief.

I’d say whilst we should’ve got more points on the board, first half was a good performance.

Then we just completely fell apart. Yellow cards or not what happened? Shall I ask Ashworth for a parliamentary inquiry?
