Re: Doom and Gloom

I appreciate this is not the point of the thread but I just think we've lost (for a wide ranging and multi faceted set of reasons) many of our best players this past 2-3 years and replaced them with bang average. As noted on other threads, come the summer we'll have lost Genge, Dolly, Nephi, Green, ...

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

Strong XV bar Brown on the wing, he's going to need all his experience for this one. The bench looks weaker than I'd have liked. No impact from the front row subs, Wells and Cracknell are in squad filler form (I'd have preferred Hatherall and Carnduff). No Benny means we're hoping JvP plays the ful...

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

Unfortunately--------------Steward wont be considered at Full Back for England unless he radically improves his speed and directional running. Plus his defence isnt that great Neither are Hodge or Carpenter, the nos 2 and 3, but, they can catch and are miles quicker Furbank has improved in leaps an...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I agree - we have talented, international players in our backline. But we have a malfunctioning system. Our double WC winner barely makes an imprint on games. Kelly and OHC have gone from international recognition to a prolonged struggle for form. The master of the skies, Fred, has lost his Eng pla...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I disagree. If you've got multiple threats in the pack it becomes very difficult for the opposition to target your breakdown threat and mark them on game. The Irish national team being a great example of this where so many of them are great over the ball but also physical on both sides of the ball....

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

11.9 for 100m? That's slow. International wingers are under 11, some closer to 10.5. He wouldn't have made the 1960s Welsh team with that speed. Might be a typo TBH. 10.5 with boots on, in winter and on a grass field? I think that is optimistic - Bryan Habana's best time on a track was 10.4 by all ...

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

I know it's unlikely, but whilst there's still a chance of Top 4 we should be going full beans in my opinion, otherwise the "they've given up" brigade will have a stronger case. This is it for me. 15 points (and keeping opposition to 0 points) 100% ensures minimum of 5th place, likely 4th...

Re: Tigers v Bristol (H) - Premiership - Saturday 27th April 2024 - KO: 15-00

At the risk of being the harbinger of doom, i can see this one getting messy - we are massively out of form and seemingly struggle against teams that attack from all angles. We need to slow their ball down and have pace throughout to cope wiht their attacking threats. Without Reffell I fear we'll st...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

….and for Healey to question if he’s going fast enough is just inaccurate and frankly, wrong. I see on social media everyone is now questioning OHC - funny that - well done Austin. To be fair, it didn't need (Mr Healy) to realise that he is not playing as well or running as quickly as he did previo...

Re: Tigers v Saints (A) - Premiership - Saturday 20th April 2024 - KO: 15-05

During the Borthwick period we built up a decent and I was looking forward to seeing the potential of that redevelop over the next few years. Much of that squad has moved on, Potter, Porter, Dolly and many more. The recruitment/replacements have not matched that evel of expectation, Cracknall, Hath...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

I have often posted that Tigers lack genuine pace and a ball carrying threat. I thought we solved that issue signing OHC and Watson not to mention Wiese. Strikes me that OHC as has been widely muted is a different player from when he was at Irish, Watson is still long term injured and Wiese is off....

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - KANGAROO MCKELLER: Do you come from a land down under? (Squad thread pt 2)

As I said in the match thread if it’s true that we’ve basically done our recruitment then I do worry for next season. Hurd doesn’t look good enough, Smith at TH should be an upgrade though. Hooker is well stocked. Agree with RB on Hatherall at lock and that we have too many “samey” players for blind...

Re: Tigers v Saints (A) - Premiership - Saturday 20th April 2024 - KO: 15-05

Another game killed stone dead by a red card We were the better team for the majority of the time when we had 15... Yep - we were in the game with 15 but not with 14 for 40mins against the best team in the league. I do worry for next season, we’ve lost Wiese and unless we sign some top end players ...

Re: Tigers v Saints (A) - Premiership - Saturday 20th April 2024 - KO: 15-05

It s a definite red and from that we concede a another dull pen and that leads to the try

Basically we’ll have played a whole half with 14 men against the best team in the league

Frustrating watching this
