Re: Sam Carter

I actually suggested Carter before the rumour and announcement. One of my rare wins there. I rated him in the past and he had the McKellar link. I was happy when it announced, made sense for the squad. Then LI went boom and I suddenly went, "Ahhh, it'd be nice to have a squad space that Chunya ...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022

Anybody know what Simon Raiwalui is doing now, I've just seen that he was at the England A game on Saturday High performance pathways and development manager with World Rugby. Which is an absolute mouthful. WR has a group of coaches who work with lower tier teams that qualify for RWCs. Helping team...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

With fewer Prem fixtures and tighter budgets I think a smaller squad, quality over quantity and taking maximum advantage of versatility is absolutely the way to go. I've never understood versatility becoming a dirty word in rugby in recent years. Rugby has always had players who cover multiple posit...

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

Personally I think there's a few players in this England squad who haven't produced the good's in a long time and may be worth moving on (Care, Daly, Slade) or even worse who have never produced the goods and don't deserve another chance (Stuart) Next round I'd like to see a team something like 1. ...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022

Lozowski to 10 with Manu Vunipola and Goode as cover would make sense to be fair. A replacement for Farrell at 10 would require marquee wages just the same as Faz.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

All this speculation that Porter is no longer England material, he was in the World cup squad list until he got injured. Guy wasn't injured then from memory? He was released after the first warmup, where he was one of a few to have a pretty poor game against Wales. Then came back into the squad ver...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022

Sarries are linked with several players, might have significant movement in their squad. Farrell confirmed as gone. Mako and Billy potentially leaving. Cinti and Gonzalez rumoured to be short term deals after LI went boom - both very good players. If they're getting linked with 13s then I wonder if ...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

What's going on with Guy Porter? I was mischief-making when I suggested his presence in Aus over Christmas was suspicious, but maybe I wasn't that far wide of the mark Rumours that he's out of contract and being chased by unnamed Super Rugby sides. Via Fissler/TRP. I actually don't think Fissler ov...

Re: 2024 Six Nations Chat

The announcement is on Thursday and usually the Telegraph have the team a day early so they should have it up by tomorrow afternoon anyway. So not long to wait now. I'd go for: 1.Genge 2.George 3.Cole 4.Itoje 5.Chessum 6.Roots 7.Underhill 8.Earl 9.Mitchell 10.Ford 11.Freeman 12.Dingwall 13.Daly 14.R...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

Sorry Sam, I missed that response until seeing RBs response there. Largely in agreement with RB though. I tend to think that if you can get over the gain line in early phase play then suddenly lots of forwards look like they have better hands. If you can't do that, then having players with the hands...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

Rumours that Juan Martin Gonzalez is on a cut price, one-year deal with Sarries so could be available for next season. He'd be a terrific addition IMO, if McKellar is open to using Hanro more at 8.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

That's absolutely my view. Try to add more physical players and carriers throughout the pack. Rather than replace Wiese like for like. Which we aren't doing, as even if there was one available, we'd be outbid the same as Jasper. Jason Jenkins - There are flaws in his game but that means he won't req...

Re: Transfers & Rumours Non-Tigers 2022

Bath close to signing Jacques du Plessis, would be gutted he's player I think would be great for our depth. If they can get him on the pitch, then yes. A brilliant player before the injuries. There was a period where Montpellier had a strong international 6/lock who was available all season. He was...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2023/24 - Crocodile McKeller: Men at Work

I have read a number of comments questioning his signing, admittedly from the usual suspects, not yourself :smt039 I'm one of them. He was a mainstay of the L.Irish back row and their captain, so I was expecting him to be more of a challenger to Hanro, but I haven't seen that. To my (untrained) eye...

Re: Tigers v Exeter (A) - Premiership - Saturday 23rd December 2023 - KO 3-00pm

Ilione is exactly the sort of player who I can see getting starts due to this sort of injury list and suddenly forcing his way into first choice 23s. In his brief opportunities he keeps making positive and significant interventions. He's clearly got no issue dealing with the increase in physicality....
