Re: Wonder kids

Ruck really is sports journalism at it's laziness. Tait, Allen and JSD are all players who's early form got completely derailed by injury that stopped their progression. Tait and Allen returned different players and very good Premiership ones at that. JSD had spells of being sublime then got injured...

Re: Offside at a kick off

Squint feeds and dodgy lineout tactics are even more frustrating given that properly enforcing them could solve some bigger issues. The maul being such an unstoppable weapon now can be tedious but forcing hookers to stand in the centre of the lineout, behind the touchline and throw straight would li...

Re: England Training Squad announced

I'm thinking something along the lines of this: 1. Genge 2. George 3. Stuart 4. Itoje 5. Ewels 6. Dombrandt* 7. Underhill 8. B. Vunipola 9. Youngs 10. Ford 11. May 12. Farrell 13. Lawrence* 14. Thorley* 15. Furbank 16. Dunn* 17. Obano* 18. Heyes* 19. Moon* 20. Hill 21. Mitchell* 22. Dingwall* 23. M...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

Mauger needs to settle in a backs/attack coach role for a time and do his coaching apprenticeship IMO. In his time as an assistant coach at Crusaders he was building a really good reputation which led to his career leaping forward at a quicker rate than it maybe should have. 2 years as an assistant ...

Re: Jasper Wiese

Wiese is a good player and one that we should be able to get as much value out of as Exeter have got from players like Vermuelen and Kirsten. In the last few years we've had a few 'very good club but not quite international players' join and look worse than they should. Hopefully Borthwick can get t...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2020/21 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD EPISODE IV: A New Hope

Given the lack of experience we will have in the halfbacks when Youngs and Ford are with England I would honestly leap at Wigglesworth signing for a season as a player/coach. We've lost Mele who was our scrum-half coach and Wigglesworth would give us an experienced head to rotate with White and hel...

Re: Fijian squad announced

So we will be missing all the internationals for Gloucester (H), Irish (A) and Exeter (H) which are the first three fixtures before two Challenge Cup rounds. Then we will have the internationals back for Falcons (A), Bath (H) and Saints (A). Following which there are another two Challenge Cup fixtu...

Re: Fijian squad announced

How long do we lose both, hopefully not as long as our England players or we could be in HUGE trouble! We will lose both England and other internationals for the first three fixtures - Gloucester (H), Irish (A), Exeter (H) We will have them all back, injury permitting, for the following three Premie...

Re: My Prem XV of the 19-20 season

Jimmy Gopperth has to be in there at 12 in my opinion. He has been excellent since regaining fitness. Vital to Wasps resurgence. I think I'd consider Thorley or Hassel-Collins over Radrada as well given he has only been here briefly. Hassell-Collins try scoring in a poor side has been impressive. Si...

Re: England Training Squad announced

Can see Umaga being selected, J. Simmonds no, his brother potentially, Calum Sheedy is an interesting one, it would be easier for his Bristol career to play for England and he already has appeared for them in the non-cap Baabaas game (however that isn't a given, look at Mike Haley). As mentioned ab...

Re: England Training Squad announced

Surprised Marcus Smith has been omitted, not sure why? It was EJ who first brought him to the World's attention! Smith is injured, Marler as well. No fly-halves outside Ford/Faz have been picked anyway but given that Smith, Simmonds, Umaga and Sheedy are all unavailable for various reasons that mig...

Re: Tigers vs Quins - 04 Oct 20 15:00

I thought Tommy Reffell had a magnificent game and really out played ex Tiger Will Evans who many on here if I recall were damming that we had lost Evans and made little attempt to retain him. These last few games have highlighted to me the players we must retain I only hope the Management agree. :...

Re: England Training Squad announced

Mark Proudfoot is a brilliant forwards and scrum coach for Heyes to get to work alongside. Even if Joe is one of the guys to miss out when players from all clubs are available (I think Painter is self isolating currently, same as Ludlam) it will be a few days in a training camp that will do no harm....
