Re: Is it me? Brendan Venter!!!?

His 20 minutes on the Goode and Hamilton RugbyPod this week his the more interesting one. I was interested by Venter on the RugbyPod talking about Sarries looking at Wasps and Tigers as templates back in the early noughties. They looked at Wasps with Josh Lewsey, Stewart Abbott, Fraser Waters, etc i...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2

I think we'll have a pretty damn good lock pairing next season and we've seemingly strengthened our 10/15 options. A starting hooker and Kerr to make progress; plus I'd take Alex Lozowski any day of the week and twice on Saturday! Is that due to the Alemanno rumours or a hint at something else in t...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2

Borthwick's growing reputation as a Coach will be attractive to many younger players who see themselves in their formative years. He has a close working relationship with Kruis as well having been his mentor at Sarries. Personally I hope priorities in order are: 1. Starting hooker 2. Starting lock ...

Re: Borthwick

I don't understand why people think it wasn't announced till now because it's a Leicester thing rather than a RFU thing TBH. This confuses me also. Borthwick had a contract. The three parties (Tigers, RFU and Borthwick) were negotiating him leaving that contract. Once the agreement on when he could...

Re: Borthwick

Does Ackerman pick the team at Glouc, or Humphries? Humphries is effectively in Jan McGinity's role sorting contracts, whilst looking after player welfare and man management (which Smurf will be doing more of with Borthwick coming in it seems). From my understanding it's been a while since Humphrie...

Re: Borthwick

The idea of a HC in charge of training and style of play, with a DoR in charge of selection sounds very strange... DOR's having less on the training ground influence is a common thing now with how much behind the scenes work there is in player management and bureaucracy. McCall at Sarries is a case...

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2

I would imagine Jack Singleton will want out at Sarries would be a good player to target for next season Singleton would be an ideal target at hooker. If Polota-Nau or Youngs were to re-sign they will be on hugely reduced contracts anyway from when they last signed one can only presume. Terrific ca...

Re: Borthwick

Some comments from Murphy allowing me to take a step back and maybe do the things I’m more suited to, I wonder what he was feeling when he spoke those words, pain or relief. Judging by the recent interview where he talked through his standard working week I'd imagine it was the relief of man overco...

Re: Last nights development match

Jack van Poortvliet was picked for the England u20 6 Nations squad as well - alongside Whitecombe, Martin and Steward. Seems like another 9 off the production line to look out for.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2019/20 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 2

If you sign a contract before being capped then you're exempt from 'Gatland's law'. So signing a new contract wouldn't rule Costelow out of Wales contention. I'm not a fan of Reid being picked at 10. Costelow should currently be 3rd in the picking order, with Ford away for the 6 Nations he should be...
